    1. Janda Baik, Pahang

    Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and plan a family retreat filled with lush greenery at Janda Baik, a perfect getaway spot in Pahang. Dotted with private villas, fruit-laden orchards, glamping sites, and fun activities, it's the ideal family trip destination if you're in need of some fresh air and nature.
    While Janda Baik is absolutely doable as a day trip destination, we'd highly recommend spending a night at one of the many nature-inspired accommodations here so you can fully recharge and have fun instead of having to rush back to the city upon nightfall.

    2. Sekinchan, Selangor

    Distance from KL: 1.5 hours
    Located on the north of Selangor in the Sabak Bernam district, Sekinchan is known for its sprawling paddy fields. This quiet coastal town rose in popularity after being featured in movies and TVB dramas and has now become a popular day trip destination, especially amongst families.
    Be sure to plan your visit accordingly, or you may be disappointed to be greeted by bare, harvested fields instead of lush green ones! The best months to visit Sekinchan for green fields are March, April, September, and October. Make sure you also pop by the beach area and make a wish at the popular Sekinchan wishing tree.

    3. Kuala Selangor, Selangor

    Usually visited alongside a trip to Sekinchan, Kuala Selangor is known for a couple of iconic sights - a hill that serves as a home to cheeky silvered leaf monkeys, a river that's home to gentle fireflies that twinkle in the dark after nightfall, and many other charming historical landmarks.
    Kuala Selangor will delight history buffs and nature lovers - start off your day at the historical Melawati Hill and catch a glimpse of some century-old landmarks, go on a nature walk through the serene Kuala Selangor Nature Park, have a seafood dinner, and cruise through the Sungai Selangor on a serene boat ride in search of glowing fireflies or blue tears at dusk. You can also check out the surreal Sasaran Beach during your trip!

    4. Genting Highlands, Pahang

    This list won't be complete without having Genting Highlands on it! The City of Entertainment is a no-brainer when it comes to day trips from KL because it offers so much fun whether for outings with friends or family.
    From the sparkling new Genting Skyworlds outdoor theme park to the funky Genting Skytropolis and spacious Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, you can easily spend a full day here just relaxing and having fun in the breeze.

    Fancy trying your hand at fishing this weekend? Escape the concrete jungle and make your way to the tranquil Hulu Langat Fishing Resort, known as one of the best fishing spots in Selangor. The resort is perfect for spending some quality time with your loved ones and offers a fishing experience that's fun even for beginners and children.

    Offering a glimpse of an idyllic fishing village stuck in time, Pulau Ketam promises a refreshing day away from the city. Simply drive your way to Port Klang and board a ferry, and you'll step foot in this laid-back little island within under an hour. Pulau Ketam is lots of fun to explore, and easy to get around by foot or by bicycle.
    Pulau Ketam is dotted with homes built on stilts (many of which have been repainted in bright colours), a collection of Chinese temples, and a handful of seafood restaurants. Make sure you end your day with a seafood feast, you can get anything from chilli crab to steamed fish, fried sotong, and fresh shellfish at the restaurants here.

    7. Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor

    Kuala Kubu Bharu is an accessible nature gem for the folks of Klang Valley. Dotted with waterfalls, historical sites, hills, and a charming old town, Kuala Kubu Bharu is great for those in search of some fresh air and an adrenaline rush. Popular activities here include white water rafting in the Hulu Selangor River, a refreshing dip in the Sungai Chilling Waterfall, hiking up Bukit Kutu, and stargazing at the Sungai Selangor Dam.
    Nature activities aside, the laid-back town also offers some pretty good local fare - slurp down a hearty bowl of Ulu Yam Loh Mee, pop by the Teng Wun Bakery for some kaya puffs and pastries, and cool down with an ice-cold bowl of cendol from Cendol Pak Samat!

    Not ready to venture too far out of the city? Putrajaya is a lovely option if you still wish to explore someplace new! Despite being located a short drive away from KL, not many city folks have explored all that Putrajaya has to offer.
    This 'green' city is filled with charming parks, lakes, communal gardens, unique landmarks, and a mixture of fun and cultural attractions.
