6 Tips Before You Sail on Disney Cruise
Before planning your adventure on the
Disney Adventure, here are a few helpful tips our team picked up during the cruise to make your experience smoother from start to finish.
Tips | More Info |
|---|
Guest Essentials at Guest Relations | If you forgot to pack small toiletries like a disposable shaver or toothbrush, head down to Guest Relations on Level 6.
They can provide basic essentials upon request. Do note that bedroom slippers are not provided, so it’s a good idea to pack your own if you prefer having them in your cabin. |
Bring a Reusable Water Bottle | One thing to note is that complimentary bottled water isn’t provided in staterooms. Instead, you can refill your bottle at the various drink stations around the ship. The good news is there are plenty of free soft drink dispensers located in the dining and pool deck areas, making it easy to stay hydrated throughout the day. |
Make the Most of Rotational Dining | Dining is one of the highlights of the cruise, and the experience is surprisingly flexible. 1. Unlimited à-la-carte dining: You can order multiple appetisers, entrées, and desserts — the only real limit is your appetite. 2. Mix & match: Don’t be shy about trying different dishes or sharing plates with your travel companions so everyone gets to sample more items. 3. Snack strategically: Grab quick bites between shows or activities so you stay energised without spending too much time in long sit-down meals. 4. Don’t miss the iconic Mickey-shaped treats — the Mickey Mouse-shaped ice cream and waffles are classic Disney snacks you absolutely have to try. |
Reserve Dining Early | Use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator APP to reserve specialty restaurants and check dining schedules early, especially on busier sailings where slots can fill up quickly. |
Prepare Your Luggage the Night Before Disembarkation | On the final night of your cruise, you can leave your packed luggage outside your stateroom door by 10pm. The crew will collect it and transport it directly back to the port for you, making the disembarkation process much easier the next morning. |
Settle Your Stateroom Account Before Midnight | Any onboard purchases are charged to your stateroom card, so make sure to settle your account before 12am on the final night. You’ll receive notifications through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator if there are any outstanding balances to clear before leaving the ship. |
With these tips in mind, you’ll be all set to enjoy a smooth and magical Disney cruise experience from embarkation to the moment you step back on shore. 🛳️✨
First Impressions: A Floating Disney World ✨
The first thing that struck us when boarding the
Disney Adventure was just how
beautifully designed the ship is.
Every corner feels whimsical and immersive — from themed zones inspired by Marvel and Disney films to intricate decor details hidden throughout the ship.
Disney fans will probably find themselves stopping every few steps just to admire the design.
It genuinely feels like stepping into different Disney worlds, and the atmosphere is enhanced by something you’ll constantly hear while walking around the ship: Disney classics playing softly in the background.
Don’t be surprised if you find yourself randomly singing along! 😉
1. Must-Visit Areas on Disney Adventure
The
Disney Adventure is massive, with themed zones spread across multiple decks. It can take a while to figure out where everything is, but these were some of the
areas our team loved the most and think every cruiser should explore.
Disney Imagination Garden (Deck 10)
This is essentially the heart of the ship and where many of the main activities and performances take place.
Throughout the day you’ll find:
Because it’s outdoors, it can get quite hot in the afternoon, but the atmosphere here is incredibly lively. If you want to soak up the Disney energy on the ship, this is the place to be.
Wayfinder Bay (Deck 10)
One of our favourite chill spots on the ship.
Inspired by Moana, Wayfinder Bay has a relaxed tropical vibe and is perfect for:
It’s a nice break from the busier areas of the cruise.
Marvel Landing (Deck 17)
Think of this as a mini Marvel theme park at sea.
This area features three rides, including:
Most rides are designed with kids in mind, but Ironcycle Test Run is the most “adult-friendly” ride with speeds reaching around 60km/h!
Toy Story Place (Deck 12)
Fans of Toy Story will love this colourful outdoor zone inspired by Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and their friends.
The entire area is designed to make you feel like you’ve shrunk down to toy size, with oversized building blocks, playful decor, and family-friendly attractions.
You’ll also find:
It’s especially great for families travelling with younger children, but even adults will enjoy the nostalgic vibes.
San Fransokyo Street (Deck 7)
Inspired by Big Hero 6, this area blends Tokyo-style neon aesthetics with sci-fi tech. It’s one of the most interactive areas on the ship, packed with games and activities for kids and tweens.
The highlight here is Hiro’s Training Zone, a fast-paced interactive game room where players dash around completing different challenges — think of it like a real-life version of “The Floor Is Lava”. It’s designed for up to four players at a time and lasts about five minutes, but it’s surprisingly exhausting and very fun.
Discovery Reef (Deck 9)
If you’re looking for a quieter, scenic area to stroll around, Discovery Reef is worth visiting.
This beautifully designed promenade is inspired by Disney’s underwater worlds and features vibrant marine-themed decor, coral-inspired structures, and ocean-inspired lighting.
It’s a great place to:
The area really shines in the evening when the lighting gives it a magical underwater atmosphere.
Town Square (Deck 6)
This indoor area feels calmer and more family-focused.
Here you’ll find:
It’s also where some
limited-edition freebies (we got cute charms!) are given out in the morning around 10am (Check the
Navigator APP for the latest updates) 😉
P/S: You can also ask for a Disney certificate and free badges (you'll get your name printed out to congratulate your first sailing 🥳)
2. The Shows Are the Absolute Highlight 🎭
If there’s
one thing you absolutely cannot miss onboard the Disney Adventure, it’s the live shows.
Disney is known for its Broadway-level productions, and the performances here truly live up to the reputation.
Expect stunning stage effects, intricate costumes, impressive choreography, and plenty of magical moments — including confetti, bubbles, and even “snow” falling from the theatre ceiling!
We watched several shows during our sailing, and honestly, even if they weren’t included in the cruise fare, we would still happily pay to see them.
Here are the five shows you should definitely try to catch during your cruise.
Show 1: Remember 🌟
Our top pick of the entire cruise was Remember, a touching one-hour production starring **WALL‑E and **EVE.
The storytelling is sweet and heartfelt, and the visuals are stunning.
Watching WALL-E desperately try to restore EVE’s memories made the entire theatre emotional — it’s the kind of show that stays with you long after the curtain falls.
Show 2: Disney Seas the Adventure 🐭
This high-energy musical is essentially a celebration of Disney’s spirit of adventure. Featuring appearances from beloved characters like Goofy, Moana, and Miguel Rivera, the show follows Goofy as he learns what it means to be a true captain.
Expect a vibrant mix of Disney songs, impressive dance numbers, and colourful stage design that captures the excitement of exploring the seas.
Show 3: Duffy and The Friend Ship 🧸
If you’re a fan of Duffy the Disney Bear, this show is an absolute must-watch.
Duffy and The Friend Ship follows Duffy and his adorable group of friends as they set off on a joyful voyage filled with
friendship, music, and heartwarming moments.
The show is colourful, cheerful, and packed with adorable scenes that will especially delight fans who love Disney’s Duffy characters.
The playful choreography and whimsical storytelling make it one of the cutest performances onboard.
Show 4: Avengers Assemble!
This action-packed show brings the Marvel universe to the cruise stage.
Featuring superheroes like Spider-Man and Iron Man, the production combines live stunts, projection effects, and fast-paced action scenes to create a thrilling superhero experience.
It’s particularly popular with younger guests, but the stage effects and high-energy storytelling make it exciting for adults too.
Show 5: The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky 🦁
As the only cruise line to offer fireworks at sea, Disney Cruise Line transforms the night sky into a breathtaking tribute to The Lion King.
Guests are invited to the top deck to witness a stirring display of brilliant colours illuminating the open ocean.
The spectacle is accompanied by beloved songs from the film, including “Circle of Life” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, with narration by global star Shah Rukh Khan guiding the story.
It’s a magical moment for the whole family, blending Disney music, dazzling pyrotechnics, and ocean views into a celebration you’ll remember long after the cruise ends!
3. Food Highlights: What to Try on Disney Adventure 🍽️
One of the best surprises on the
Disney Adventure cruise is the

With a mix of included dining venues and specialty restaurants, every meal feels like part of the adventure. Here’s our breakdown of the must‑try dishes by dining area.

What makes it stand out:

Elevated pasta, seafood, and desserts you won’t find elsewhere onboard
B. Mike & Sulley’s Flavors of Asia

This immersive dining experience is a paid option, perfect for guests looking to enjoy something unique and extra special beyond the rotational dining options.

E. Pizza Planet
For cheesy, comforting goodness, Pizza Planet is your go-to spot. Classic pizzas and shareable slices make it perfect for families or groups looking to refuel between rides and activities.
F. Wheezy’s Freezies
Cool off at Wheezy’s Freezies, where frozen treats bring a burst of fun to your day. These icy delights are perfect for kids (and adults!) on hot deck afternoons or after a whirlwind adventure.

It’s a simple way to start your day without the lines, letting you enjoy more shows, activities, and adventures at your own pace!
4. Character Meet & Greets — Magical Moments with Your Favorites
No Disney cruise is complete without meeting your favourite characters! Onboard
Disney Adventure, you can enjoy
exclusive character meet-and-greet sessions with Disney icons like Mickey, Minnie, Duffy, Stitch, and more.
These encounters are perfect for photo ops, autograph signing, and creating unforgettable memories for the whole
family.
Pro Tips:
Use the Disney Navigator App to book your meet-and-greet slots early — popular characters fill up fast!
Check the app regularly, as times may be updated or new sessions added throughout the cruise.
Don’t worry if you miss a slot — some characters make surprise appearances around the ship, from Deck 6’s Town Square to Deck 10’s Imagination Garden.
For Duffy & Friends fans, note that the Duffy sections in the World of Disney and the Duffy store carry the same merchandise, so you can plan your shopping accordingly.
Meeting these characters isn’t just for kids — adults will love the immersive magic too. Trust us, nothing beats the joy of seeing your favourite Disney friends come to life right in front of you!

Duffy and Friends Shop 🧸
For fans of Duffy the Disney Bear and his adorable crew, this store is a must-visit. Expect shelves filled with plush toys, accessories, apparel, and collectibles featuring Duffy and friends like ShellieMay and Gelatoni.
These items are hugely popular, so if you’re eyeing something specific, it’s best to shop early!
💡 Tip: The Duffy merchandise here is said to be similar to the Duffy section in the World of Disney stores, so you don’t necessarily need to rush between both locations hunting for the same items.
World of Disney & World of Disney Too 🎁
These are the largest retail stores onboard, packed with classic Disney merchandise. You’ll find everything from Mickey and Minnie apparel to pins, souvenirs, toys, and cruise-exclusive items.

7. Disney Traditions You Must Try Onboard ✨
One of the most special parts of sailing on the
Disney Adventure isn’t just the shows or attractions — it’s the
little traditions that Disney fans bring to life together.
These small gestures make the cruise feel incredibly warm, friendly, and magical, even among complete strangers!
If it’s your first Disney cruise, here are a few fun traditions you shouldn’t miss.
🎁 Pixie Dusting
“Pixie dusting” is a beloved Disney cruise tradition where guests prepare small gifts or surprises to share with fellow cruisers.
These could be stickers, handmade keychains, snacks, or tiny souvenirs placed in designated exchange areas or given to new
friends you meet onboard.
It’s a sweet way to spread Disney magic and often leads to unexpected interactions with other guests who share the same love for Disney.
🚪 Decorating Your Stateroom Door
Walk down any corridor and you’ll quickly notice how many guests decorate their stateroom doors with magnets, themed signs, or character decorations.
Some families go all out with personalized name signs, Disney quotes, or decorations matching their favourite films. It’s a fun way to express your Disney fandom and easily spot your room in the hallway!
Even better, it often sparks conversations with neighbours who admire your creativity!
🦢 Towel Animals from Housekeeping
Another fun tradition onboard is discovering the adorable towel animals that housekeeping sometimes creates in your cabin.
While these surprises may appear during regular room service, some cruisers like to leave a small tip or thank-you note for their stateroom host, which can sometimes lead to extra creative towel animals appearing during the cruise.
It’s a small gesture that shows appreciation for the crew — and coming back to a new towel creature is always a delightful surprise ❤️
These traditions may seem simple, but they’re part of what makes a Disney cruise so memorable.
From meeting fellow Disney fans to discovering tiny magical surprises throughout your trip, it’s these moments that truly bring the experience to life. ✨
