Japan's biggest, well-loved discount chain store, Don Don Donki (also known as Don Quijote) has finally opened its first store in Malaysia! *cues Don Don Donki theme song*
For those who have travelled to Japan, Don Don Donki is most definitely not an unfamiliar name. This huge chain store with its iconic, adorable blue penguin mascot has over 160 stores across Japan, all of which are stocked with shelves and shelves of Japanese snacks, wide-variety of food items, clothing, groceries, beauty products, clothing, and all sorts of merchandise! The moment you step into one, it's easy for you to lose track of time as you navigate its ceiling to floor shelves full of goodies.

The first Don Don Donki store in Malaysia has finally opened its doors at Lot 10, Bukit Bintang on 19 March (Friday), close to the Zara outlet facing the streets! Fans of the popular Japanese chain store flocked over even before its opening at 10AM, and queues have been crazy since morning.

The three-storey store is divided into many different zones where you can find literally everything you need - from fresh sashimi to wagyu beef slices, strawberries imported from Japan, a huge variety of ramen, Japanese snacks (including a whole shelf dedicated to different flavours of kitkat), plushies, desserts, skincare items, and even electronic products and cooking appliances. Get ready to spend at least an hour marvelling at everything here!
While we wait for the pandemic to subside, at least we have something to look forward to and can shop for Japanese snacks before it's safe to travel again. In the meantime, explore the beauty Malaysia has to offer first. For those who are heading out, make sure to mask up, keep your distance, and adhere to the SOPs! Stay safe while you have fun.
