Fantastic 5.0
Hotel is very close to different establishments. We saved a lot of money just walking around Sydney’s Central Business District. We had a lot of time exploring the city- town hall, Queen Victoria shopping mall, St. Andrew’s church, chinatown, etc. Highly recommended hotel. Staff are plesant too. We were able to meet a number of kababayans working there. Will definitely go back and probably bring our kids next time. We highly recommend this place. So sulit without breaking the bank..👌😉

Fantastic 5.0
Top location, close to Central Station & the light rail. Rooms are small but very clean & comfortable - fridge, a/c. The meals offered in the on-site hotel & yummy & great value for money. This wasn’t our first stay at the Great Southern & won’t be our last.

Fantastic 5.0
Stayed here for 3 nights and honestly had such a good experience. The staff clean your room daily even without asking, which I really appreciated after long days out. The room itself is compact but super comfortable, with a private toilet and shower, and I loved waking up to the view of the Town Hall tram line, the side of QVB, and York Street. They also have a small pantry where you can heat up food and enjoy free coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, and tea — a small but thoughtful touch. The location is perfect: right by the Town Hall light rail, train station, and metro. There’s also a Woolworths nearby for souvenirs or essentials, and it’s walking distance to Hyde Park, Sydney Tower Eye, and my favorite — St. Mary’s Cathedral. Would definitely stay here again when I’m back in Sydney. 💜

𝐄𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐲𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐞. 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Excellent. Next to World Square Mall and Chinatown with easy transport links. Lots of eateries nearby. Money changer right downstairs. 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞: Staff were lovely and friendly. Granted us an early check-in. 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦: Clean, though decor is slightly dated. Good amenities (fridge, wine glasses, cups & coffee/tea). We liked the 'Green option'—we skipped cleaning for 3 days and got $30 F&B credit. 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭: We had connecting rooms. Space was okay, though bathroom coordination for 4 people was tight. 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: Clean gym on the 21st floor and bars at lobby. 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞: Watch out for the legs of the glass TV table; they stick out and are easy to trip over. Overall, a convenient and friendly place to stay!

the housekeeping staff didn’t make the room up properly and left another room’s trash on our table. The staff was quite apologetic and was thankful for the good service.

Fantastic 5.0
Our family's first stay in Sydney was spent at THE OCCIDENTAL, and it turned out to be a delightful choice. Though not a luxury hotel, it's perfect for travelers who need a clean, comfortable place to rest after exploring the city. Our room had one matrimonial bed and two twin beds - cozy and just right for us. While it had no private bathroom, the shared facilities were exceptionally clean, well-stocked, and constantly maintained. The staff were friendly and the mannager, who reminded me of Shang-Chi (yes, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! yo MK! hahaha), was very welcoming. The best thing about The Occidental is its prime location-walking distance to major tourist spots and just minutes from Wynyard Station, which makes Sydney super accessible. Highly recommended for families or groups who want convenience, comfort and value. We'll definitely stay here again.
