Fantastic 5.0
Shuhokaku Kogetsu is definitely one of the best hotels for viewing the inverted reflection of Mount Fuji on Lake Kawaguchiko. Even if the lake is too windy for a clear reflection, you can use the hotel's special small pond to capture the inverted Fuji. The hotel's service and food are also excellent. It's absolutely worth recommending!

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel is close to Kawaguchiko station (15mins walk) and they provide free regular shittle bus from and to the station every 10mins so it is very convenient. Mt Fuji view is visible from the hotel too. Stayed for 2 nights and they also provide free breakfast. There is a Lawson nearby too. The room is just nice for 2 people, is clean and tidy. It is a nice stay!

Fantastic 5.0
The location is very central, offering views of Mount Fuji. Although a part of it is obstructed in this area, it actually makes it quite unique. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were all polite and thoughtful. I had to catch the early 9:16 Fuji View sightseeing train the next day, and the hotel specially arranged a private car to depart at 8:45 AM to take me to Kawaguchiko Station. I stayed in the room on the far right facing the hotel, so my view was more obstructed, but when I saw Mount Fuji, I could quickly rush downstairs to the lakeside to take photos!

Great 4.0
The hotel's location is excellent; you can see Mount Fuji from the window. It's near the Kawaguchiko scenic area, making it a relaxing place for a vacation. However, the room amenities only include a toothbrush and toothpaste, and there isn't even bottled water. I feel this aspect makes the value for money (CP ratio) low for the price.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel's mattress was very comfortable, and the public hot spring bath had the perfect water temperature, making for a very relaxing soak. I slept wonderfully afterward. The hotel thoughtfully upgraded us to a room with a view, allowing us to see Mount Fuji from afar, but unfortunately, the weather wasn't good during those days, so we couldn't see the beautiful mountain scenery.

Fantastic 5.0
A very good experience! Waking up to a direct view of Mount Fuji, which you're guaranteed to see if the weather is clear between 5 AM and 10 AM. The room is spacious, but the shower facilities are basic; it's better to use the large public bath! Hotel location: Unbeatable beautiful scenery. Transportation convenience: Only accessible by car.

Fantastic 5.0
I stayed in a Japanese-style room for two nights with a view of Mt. Fuji and really enjoyed my stay. The room was comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and everything was well maintained. The breakfast and onsen were both nice, and the shuttle bus to and from Kawaguchiko Station was very convenient. Overall, a pleasant stay and a hotel I would recommend when visiting the Fuji area.

What to know before visiting Minamitsuru

Destination snapshot: what to expect in Minamitsuru District

Minamitsuru District draws visitors mainly for Tours, Cable cars and Attraction passes, with Parks & gardens and Outdoor & sports activities also popular. Demand swings through the year: activity peaks in December and falls to a low in August, so the rhythm of tours and outdoor options follows a distinct high- and low-season pattern.

When to visit and how prices behave

According to Klook booking data, December is the busiest month while August sees the weakest demand. Prices are generally lower in late summer and rise toward the end of the year: Klook bookings show August is typically the cheapest month and June typically the priciest. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds, aim for August and surrounding low-demand months; for full peak-season atmosphere choose December when demand and activity are highest. Overall, prices and demand mostly move together here—crowds and higher ticket levels appear around the same months.

Tips for travellers from Australia

Australian travellers usually book about two weeks ahead, so plan key activities roughly 14 days before travel and you’ll be in step with typical behaviour. If you’re travelling in busy December, consider booking earlier (around the early-days window) to secure popular tours and cable-car experiences; for spontaneous trips in low-demand months you can often book within a couple of days. Use Klook to compare available tour and pass options and lock in the ones that suit your itinerary.
