Reviews
We had an amazing and unforgettable journey. My husband loved snorkeling around the pontoon , and I absolutely enjoyed the Scuba Doo diving experience. It was incredible to descend five meters and see the stunning coral and colorful fish up close. The staff were fantastic, the food was delicious, and everything was so well organised.
Staff were great, very friendly. Booking was fuss free! They provide free seasickness pills onboard so there’s no need to get it. The semi-submarine was a good experience. Worth it to purchase Scubadoo. Lunch was ok, small selection, ok for us as we are not fussy eaters. Professional photos taken by diver June were purchased at $105 for 5.
😄Smooth trip: go to the pier 1 hour in advance to report the ticket exchange. It takes about 45 minutes to sail to Green Island at 10:30. If you don’t get off the boat and go to the Great Barrier Reef, it will take another hour, which is quite time-consuming in transportation. The equipment is OK, but I don’t have snorkeling clothes for a small person, and I can’t find suitable fins, so I go into the water barefoot. Very beautiful environment, many fish, big fish can be seen on the coral reef, but some of it has been bleached, which is a pity. Lunch was good, wish there were more dishes and variety. It would be better if you spend more time snorkeling. The windows of the semi-snorkeling boat are too dirty and dirty to see clearly. Others are very good.
"An absolute delight! The Great Barrier Reef Pontoon from Cairns was an incredible experience. The snorkeling was breathtaking with vibrant marine life and crystal-clear waters. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and ensured a safe and enjoyable trip. A must-do adventure for nature lovers!"
When visiting Cairns, be sure to check out the Great Barrier Reef. Although the coral reef is severely damaged, it is still very beautiful. The saurian fish and sea turtle swim next to you. There are many types of fish and corals, which is impressive!
The Great Barrier Reef is really worth visiting! The staff and coaches of Great adventures are very kind and friendly. There are staff who can speak Mandarin and Japanese on board. At 10:30, board the ship at 12:30 to the outer island of Great Barrier Reef, but the 3-hour water platform activities are a bit rushed because you need to eat a buffet lunch and take a semi-submarine and In addition to snorkeling, if you buy other activities such as taking a helicopter, the time will be too fast. It is recommended that the shipping company can sail earlier to allow enough time for activities on the platform! All in all it is well worth attending this event :)
A fruitful trip. Helpful staffs were ready to help at all times, breathtaking views, kids friendly and the food was good too. However, the route was kinda rough, remember to take seasickness tablets before embarking.
I read online that Great Adventures cruise has 2 pontoon one at Moore reef and one at Norman reef, the later being the farthest from the shore. And this trip took us to Moore reef. It would have been better if this was communicated earlier because I never knew GA takes you to Moore. Tip compare Quicksilver Vs Great Adventures.....Reef Magic Vs Sunlover..these two should have more economical options and for the obvious reasons.. They don't go too far from the shore. Quicksilver goes the farthest. GA is the only company with a Scooba doo. Additional cost. Tip you can bargain a bit.
Tour is operated by very professional guides and crew members. They were very friendly and were looking after everyone's need. Food was good and had timely coffee with cakes and cookies. Trip started at 10:30am from Reef Terminal and we arrived around 12:30 pm near destined pontoon. There were three free activities (Snorkeling, Submersible boat ride, underwater observatory) to be done along with lunch within 3 hrs, which is an ample time. You can pay extra for helicopter ride, scooba do and diving. Overall experience was really nice.
The platform activity time is relatively short, but it is expected, because some elderly parents do not want to go into the water, so it is good to let them join the semi-submersible to see the coral reefs and fish schools. For snorkeling, you can ask the staff for a degree mask (+7), which is great without extra money.
