Weather and views were great. If you are there to eat fishes instead of look at fishes, like us, try Minshuku Aotsuka Shokudou!! Seafood was so fresh, food was amazing! 🤤
I was lucky to get on a 6-person minibus. The weather was great that day, and the scenery of Mt. Tengu was super beautiful. Otaru Canal was also sunny. The sweets at the Shiroi Koibito Park were delicious. The winery and Shukutsu Observatory were a bit boring.
Thank you to our guide, Zhao, for professionally and enthusiastically showing us around Otaru. My family had a great time, ate delicious seafood, and had a wonderful vacation day.
We appreciated having ample time at each stop, which allowed us to explore without feeling rushed. The staff were also very accommodating. My husband is very tall and could not fit comfortably in the assigned seats, and they kindly let him sit in front, which we appreciated. The main downside was the language barrier. The tour description mentioned an English and Chinese speaking guide, but communication during the tour was mostly in Chinese. Because of this, it felt more like we were being driven from place to place, with little explanation about the locations. Most communication was directed toward guests who could understand Chinese, which made us feel slightly out of place. All other tours we joined in Sapporo were able to communicate well in English, so better English support would greatly improve this experience. The locations themselves were beautiful and worth visiting.
Otaru City is well worth a visit. The scenery on Mt. Tengu is beautiful. The canal warehouses are also very distinctive. Shiroi Koibito Park is an excellent and unique attraction. Only the Shukutsu Observatory is slightly thin and could be improved appropriately.
We enjoyed our day trip to Otaru. Wish we could spend more time in the Otaru shopping street, but overall very enjoyable. Special shout out to our guide Jay who spoke very good English, patient and accomodating. Thanks!
The tour guide was very attentive in explaining the local culture and history to us, making the whole trip very fulfilling.
Very fun, Tenguyama's powder snow is top-notch, great for skiing, and Otaru is also beautiful. The tour guide was very nice, but there aren't many restaurant options in Otaru.
Since we didn't download WeChat in Taiwan beforehand, we couldn't receive SMS verification codes abroad, and the contact person needed us to download it to communicate better. The pick-up location was unclear, but we eventually got on the vehicle. This day trip didn't have a guide, the driver was also not the guide. The itinerary arrangement was a bit of a pity; the time in Otaru was too short, and the observation deck stop was unnecessary. I suggest removing that stop and allocating the time to Otaru. Overall, this was a chartered car trip, and the driver drove safely.
Booked the tour thinking another group would be with us, but to our surprise it was just us. great to have someone drive to all locations to minimize travel time. it was a great tour when you have little time to spare.
