We had an amazing day at Sun Moon Lake on August 14, and having Jimmy as our driver and guide made it even better! Jimmy was warm, attentive, and easy to communicate with. Since our group speaks both Chinese and English, he patiently explained and repeated information in both languages so everyone could follow along. The drive was smooth and comfortable throughout. We were each provided with bottled water, and the ride was relaxing enough for us to get some good rest on the road; especially appreciated after a full day of sightseeing! Jimmy also shared helpful local tips on where to eat, where to buy quality tea leaves, and which activities to prioritize. He even got us tea eggs along the way, which was such a thoughtful touch! 🥚 What stood out most was how genuinely he cared about making sure we enjoyed the trip. The tour guide was very attentive throughout, not only gathering on time but also explaining the history and local culture of Sun Moon Lake in a very vivid way, allowing us to not just check in, but also to understand the story of this lake. The itinerary was very smooth. Taking a boat from Shuishe Pier, exploring and eating at Ita Thao Old Street, and praying at Xuanguang Temple were all perfectly arranged. There was no rushing at all, and no forced shopping. Boat tickets were directly included in the itinerary, so it was super convenient not having to queue up and buy tickets ourselves! The tour guide also recommended must-try snacks and hidden photo spots in the old street. The whole day was relaxing and fulfilling, truly the most effortless way to visit Sun Moon Lake~

To those of you who are Taiwanese but still considering this trip~ If you're taking a day off from a busy work schedule and don't want to think about itineraries, don't want to buy transportation tickets in advance, and just want to completely relax, stroll around Sun Moon Lake, take a boat ride, enjoy the breeze, and explore an old street for some food and drinks, then I highly recommend this itinerary! Although the round trip from Taipei takes a long time (over 3 hours each way), this also means you'll have plenty of time to catch up on sleep 😉 Regarding the itinerary, the tour guide will arrange everything for you; you just need to remember to return to the meeting point at the designated time. Since foreign travelers make up the majority of Klook's day tour participants, the tour guide will primarily speak English but will translate into Chinese, offering bilingual Chinese and English commentary! Don't worry about not understanding; you can always raise your hand and ask the guide if you have any questions! Our guide this time, Ken, was cheerful and humorous. He shared many interesting stories about Sun Moon Lake, helped with photos at scenic spots, and explained all the注意事项 (important notes) very clearly. Having him made us feel very at ease, and the trip was very enjoyable 🥰! One thing to note is that the Ita Thao shopping street stop for lunch and shopping is only about 1 hour. Those who eat more slowly might not have much time to shop, which is a bit of a shame (but understandable to avoid delaying the return time). When we visited Xuanguang Temple this time (it's only about a 5-minute climb, and I recommend going up to enjoy the panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake), we happened to encounter a live performance by the local Naruku band. Combined with the scenery of Sun Moon Lake, it was truly relaxing and comfortable! For the final cycling around the lake activity, you can choose to rent a bicycle or not. If you don't rent one, you can simply walk along the lakeside. The round trip by bicycle takes about an hour, so if you're like me and not very fit, you can choose to walk along the lakeside path and then enjoy tea at a tea shop near the pier, which is also a great option! Jeannie was our tour guide for the Sun Moon Lake trip, and we had such a great day with her. She was friendly, helpful, and gave us some really good local recommendations. We’re big fans of tea and vinegar, so we especially enjoyed the authentic black tea store and the high-quality vinegar shop she recommended on Ita Thao Street. The beautiful scenery, boat ride, and bike ride made the day really memorable. It was such a fun way to experience Sun Moon Lake and the local culture.

The weather was not ideal during our tour but the place was still beautiful and the view was majestic! 😍 Joseph, our tour guide, shared fun stories and exciting facts about Sun Moon Lake which made the bus ride less boring! Would recommend to visit even though it’s hours away from Taipei!

Tour around Sun Moon Lake was excellent. Tour Guide Kent was knowledgeable, professional & funny at times. Bus Driver and Boat Captain are quite friendly and professional. We also managed to ride bicycle for about 1 hour around half of the lake.

We booked the Sun Moon Lake tour as solo traveler, and our tour guide, Asin, made the experience even more enjoyable. He was very kind, patient, and thoughtful, always making sure that everyone was comfortable throughout the tour. As a solo traveler, I especially appreciated how he kindly took lots of photos for me—such a small gesture, but it meant a lot! 📸 He also guided us to one of the temples around Sun Moon Lake and patiently explained the history and stories about the monk.
