So this activity is three parts in total. The first one takes you to a temple, then there is a beautiful boat ride that takes you to a dam and finally the sake tasting and optional sale. For those arriving by car, there is parking near the south exit. Our guide Claudia was proactive, interactive and cooperative and made this activity fun with information sharing, whenever we sought it. She speaks good English and knows Kyoto well. We did this activity with a 5-month-old, so you know that's entirely possible should you choose. Baby prams can be stored near the boat boarding point and restrooms are available once you reach the dam or at the sake museum. There is a great presentation at the Sake Museum on the brewing process and history. All in all, I would recommend this activity to anyone looking for some good time with family/friends, including infants. Thank you. (Date of activity: 05/05/2026)
Communication was fast and easy. We met at the north exit of the train station and departed promptly at 9 am. The first stop was a temple for some background information and photo opportunities while we waited for our turn for the canal boat. Unfortunately, it was the tail end of the sakura season, so there weren't many cherry blossoms along the canal. The boat stopped at the location of two locks, which had a small museum that was interesting for seeing how the locks work due to the different water levels. Next was the sake museum, which was good, and they let you choose three sakes from ten types to sample. You can buy bottles from the sake museum, which had very good prices! Our guide, Marielle, was very friendly. The actual agency was TripGuru, probably in partnership with Klook.
This was a lovely calm tour learning about the history of trade in the area as well as the history of sake brewing. David was so helpful in guiding us through and providing some tips for where to eat afterwards.
Taka was a great informative guide with great English! We stopped at temples, learned about the history of sake, and had a really fun boat ride in the canals of Kyoto going under the cherry blossom trees!
We enjoyed the tour with Claudia and got to see a different neighbourhood of Kyoto. Claudia was also incredibly helpful and generous with her recommendations of what to see and where to eat in Kyoto even before we did the tour with her!
We had an amazing private tour with our guide, Katsuhiko. We were a group of four and enjoyed a wonderful mix of activities — visiting the museum, tasting sake, taking a boat tour, and a walking tour. Katsuhiko was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and patient, answering all of our questions along the way. Everything was perfectly organized and exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this tour and Katsuhiko as a guide!
A very interesting tour, the guide David was caring and attentive, showing and explaining all locations in detail in excellent English. The group was small, and the meeting point was very convenient.
Unfortunately, the weather was not the best; it was very humid. The trip description stated the guide would be wearing a shirt, but he wasn't! The tour was scheduled for 9 AM, and my husband and I were the only ones booked for that time slot. After showing us a small Buddha temple, etc., he finished early and tried to get us to take a boat ride, but the vendor wouldn't allow it before 10 AM, which was annoying! I felt bad for our tour guide, who had to walk around in the humidity and waste time. We then chose to wait at the boat entrance – unfortunately, the owners were all smoking, and the wind blew smoke our way! There was no AC, just fans, so I was quite disappointed with the lack of consideration! By the time we got in the boat, the weather was muggy. The ride was entirely in Japanese, so we didn't understand anything. Again, if you're going to advertise here on Klook or other apps, it should be bilingual. We also got bitten a lot by mosquitoes due to the river bank. I would NOT recommend this boat ride unless the weather was cooler. The SAKE museum and tasting were just OK.
Nice, three-part tour. Katz was an excellent guide. Sake tasting was the highlight, but also getting a look at Fushimi was good too
