Fantastic 5.0
Choosing a hotel in Melbourne's CBD (Central Business District) offers the ultimate advantage: unparalleled convenience! You'll not only benefit from the Free Tram Zone, making it easy to reach major attractions and hidden laneway cafes, but also enjoy an unbeatable selection of nearby restaurants, supermarkets, and shopping. While real estate in the city center is premium, often leading to higher room rates and smaller rooms, the time and energy saved on transportation are absolutely worth it. For first-time visitors to Melbourne or travelers who prefer a lively and convenient location, the CBD is definitely the top choice for exploring this vibrant, culture-rich city!

Literally at the center of everything. Close to tram station, it’s also beside bettys burger. There are so manu convenience store and chemist warehouse nearby and the exciting part is it’s so near the flinders street and station! The breakfast is also okay, the rooms are clean. Perfect stay overall!

Fantastic 5.0
I had a wonderful stay at Pegasus Apart’Hotel and would happily stay here again! The room was cleaned daily, always smelled fresh, and was equipped with useful amenities such as a microwave, kettle, kitchen utensils, and a mini refrigerator, making my stay very comfortable. Housekeeping regularly changed the towels and linens, made the bed, and refilled toiletries. A few times some coffee sachets were missed, but reception quickly sent refills when requested. I was especially impressed by the staff’s responsiveness. When my hair dryer broke, I called reception and someone came to check it immediately and provided a replacement. The Wi-Fi was stable throughout my stay, and every staff member I encountered was friendly, professional, and helpful. Although the view from my room wasn’t quite what I expected, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you to the entire team for making my visit so comfortable and memorable. I will definitely be booking with you again the next time I return.

Fantastic 5.0
The location is convenient and close to the city center. It's a 3-minute walk to Victoria Market, and getting to other attractions in the city center is just as quick and easy. The room is excellent and spacious. The bedroom, bathroom, and living room all feel very roomy. There's also a dining table, microwave, and refrigerator for preparing simple meals. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

Fantastic 5.0
I booked a twin room, and the official website showed standard photos. However, I was very disappointed to be given a twin room with an accessible bathroom upon arrival. I immediately went to the front desk to address this. The staff was very helpful, but unfortunately, that was the only room left. They offered to upgrade me to a room with a kitchen for an additional 10 AUD and specially arranged to split the large bed into two smaller beds. So, we agreed to the room change. Therefore, those booking a twin room might want to consider this.

More about Melbourne hotels

Staying in Melbourne: value and range

Staying in Melbourne offers a noticeable spread between the most affordable and the most premium hotels — roughly 2.5 times from bottom to top — so your budget meaningfully changes what you can expect. The best balance of price and quality typically sits in the premium tier, which often represents the smartest value for many travellers.

How hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy options sit well below the city average and are a practical choice for travellers focused on keeping costs down. Standard rooms step up from economy with more comfort for everyday travellers who want a bit more space without a large jump in price. The premium tier is the best-value sweet spot and is where you’ll see a meaningful improvement in comfort and amenities compared with standard — this is the largest step before luxury. Luxury sits at the top and represents the biggest price jump from premium, suiting travellers after more indulgence and higher-end experiences.

When travellers from the United States tend to book

Prices are typically lowest in September and highest in October, so a budget-led trip fits best in September when rates are notably lower than in the priciest month. Rooms are commonly booked about 26 days ahead on average, so if you want more certainty (especially in October) aim to lock in a room earlier rather than waiting until the last minute.
