"Lines of EVANGELION Exhibition" features over 500 precious original drawings making their debut in Taiwan
Since its broadcast in 1995, the classic animated work "Neon Genesis Evangelion" has become an important work influencing global anime and pop culture with its strong apocalyptic aesthetics, profound psychological descriptions, and highly recognizable visual language. Following the enthusiastic response in Hong Kong, "Lines of EVANGELION Exhibition" officially announced that it will move to Taipei from August 14 to October 04, 2026, for a grand exhibition at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi Place A9, 9F. Pre-sale tickets will also officially go on sale simultaneously.
This exhibition takes "lines" as its core concept, focusing on the important visual elements that construct the worldview of "Neon Genesis Evangelion." From character outlines, EVA unit structures, to storyboards, art backgrounds, and other animation production processes, the exhibition features over 500 precious original drawings, setting materials, and animation production materials provided by Studio khara (株式会社カラー), including valuable original manuscripts from core creators such as Kazuya Tsurumaki, Mahiro Maeda, and Ikuto Yamashita. Audiences will be able to experience up close how the production team meticulously constructed the unique worldview of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" with every stroke and line.
The exhibition content covers a large number of hand-drawn original manuscripts by animators, background art settings, and important production materials from the "Rebuild of Evangelion" series, fully presenting the creative process of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" from draft to animation. Audiences can also glimpse the charm of handmade production in the golden age of animation from the brushstrokes, correction marks, and composition details in the drawings.

"Lines of EVANGELION Exhibition" Five Major Highlights at a Glance
Highlight 1: Rich and diverse expressions of the main characters, hand-drawn original art by animators
The exhibition will feature a large display of original drawings (key frames) categorized by the five EVA pilots—Shinji, Rei, Asuka, Mari, and Kaworu. Through large-scale, close-up displays, audiences will be able to examine the pencil-drawn outlines of each character, the delicately presented emotional changes in their expressions, and the character's aura emanating from the lines, feeling how animators breathe life into characters with every stroke and line.
:::
Highlight 2: Neon Genesis Evangelion and Angel setting materials, mechanical settings, and background art materials
In addition to character original art, the exhibition also includes a large number of Neon Genesis Evangelion unit and Angel setting materials, design original art, concept art (Image Board), and background art materials for important scenes in the "Rebuild of Evangelion" series, including Neo-Tokyo-3 and the Third Village, presenting the visual composition process of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" from draft to animation.
Furthermore, this exhibition will also showcase a device artwork created using Unit-01 3D modeling data from the actual production process, making its global debut. Audiences will be able to feel the creators' artistic philosophy and emotions invested in the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" series, whether in analog or digital eras, through lines and colors.
