Jù Japanese Hot Pot clearly positions itself as a Japanese shabu-shabu chain specializing in individual hot pots. We visited on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, and it wasn't as crowded as we expected. The waiting area was almost empty, and the tables were well-spaced, making for a comfortable dining experience. The layout was intuitive; after being seated, the staff quickly guided us through the process. The self-service bar was conveniently located on one side, allowing us to get vegetables, sauces, and desserts all in one area before returning to our seats. During the afternoon, everyone seemed to be moving at a slower pace, so there was no crowding at the bar. The quality of the self-service bar truly held up. The fried tofu skin was very tender after cooking, the vegetables were fresh and clean, and the black soybean milk tea was smooth, not overly sweet, and refreshingly cold. For the tea bags, I chose Genmaicha, which looked promising with visible roasted rice grains, but the hot tea turned out to be a bit astringent. In the dessert area, you could dispense your own soft-serve ice cream and add toppings, creating an impressive, layered treat. For our main courses, we chose the Sukiyaki broth and the Original broth. The Sukiyaki flavor was delicious, with a perfectly balanced sweet and savory profile, though an egg had to be ordered separately for an additional 20 NTD. The beef quality was good; the tender-fried beef was firm and thick, while the marbled beef had an even fat distribution and was ready to eat after just a few seconds in the pot. What took a bit more time to understand were the dining rules. The cost of ordering a single plate of meat à la carte cannot be used to offset the minimum charge, so each person must order one main course and one hot pot. It feels like a very precise design. If you don't eat much, you'll start to feel quite full towards the end. It's hard to pinpoint anything specifically wrong, but it's definitely not a place where you can just order a few small things and be done.
