One of my favorite parts of the trip. Claiming at the entrance took a little bit since they were confused about my speaking English but apart from that all good! I didnt get a stamp or a physical ticket sadly but it’s fine.
The venue is very spacious and parking is convenient. The handmade courses inside are also very attractive.

  • Explore the beauty of pottery art and cultural depth
  • Exhibitions × experiences × education all in one place
  • From everyday utensils to contemporary art, all included

The New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum officially opened on November 26, 2000, and is Taiwan's first professional museum dedicated to ceramics. It is committed to the investigation, collection, preservation, and maintenance of Taiwan's ceramic culture, engaging in research, collection, exhibition, and educational promotion. It actively promotes international exchange and cooperation, opens its doors to international artists for residencies, joined the International Council of Museums, signed sister museum agreements with museums in Germany and Spain, and even secured the right to host the "2018 International Academy of Ceramics World Congress," spreading the beauty of Taiwanese pottery art internationally and showcasing the vitality of Taiwan's ceramic culture and contemporary pottery creation.

Introduction to the Museum's Architecture: The architecture of the Ceramics Museum features a gray exterior presented with fair-faced concrete and steel frames. The high ceilings, simple color design, and large glass curtain walls allow natural light to stream in, creating various effects of light transmission in the continuous, richly layered spaces composed of fair-faced concrete, washed stone walls, gray stone, and brownish-red wood. This allows the indoor ceramic exhibits to display a rich texture and appearance with the changing sunlight. After ascending the layers of stone steps at the entrance of the Ceramics Museum, visitors can see the sound and visual effects created by a large water wall and pool, which helps to calm the mind and transform emotions.

  1. First Floor: This floor includes areas such as the Pottery Collection (cultural goods store), information service area, Pottery Art Stage, permanent exhibition, and Sunshine Special Exhibition Room. In addition to permanent and special exhibitions, various performances and experiential activities are also held irregularly.
  2. Second Floor: The museum's permanent exhibition focuses on the development of Taiwanese ceramics, divided into five major themes: "Shaping from Clay," "Looking Back at Where We Came From," "Pottery Town," "Journey Through Time and Space," and "Future Prophecy." Through various types of exhibits, texts, images, and interactive technology, it creates diverse exhibition scenarios, leading visitors to explore Taiwan's diverse and rich ceramic culture.
  3. Third Floor: The special exhibition rooms on this floor host multiple special exhibitions curated by the museum each year, allowing the public to experience the beauty of ceramics.
  4. Basement One and Basement Two: Basement One houses the data center, international lecture hall, children's experience room, pottery art corridor, and restaurant, while Basement Two is home to the pottery art workshops. In this area, visitors can enjoy small thematic exhibitions by ceramists or groups from around the world, and people aged 4 and above can participate in experiential courses to enjoy the fun of pottery making. In addition to regularly showing films, the international lecture hall also irregularly hosts academic and lecture-specific events and provides venue rental services. The data center is a specialized library attached to the museum, collecting books, periodicals, and audiovisual materials related to ceramics, art, and museums, and also allows the public to read the museum's collection (books and other materials are not available for external borrowing).

The restaurant offers 152 seats in an elegant setting, allowing visitors to comfortably enjoy meals and drinks.
