We absolutely loved this experience! our tour guide was so insightful, especially in the market. she explained so many things we would have no other way of knowing. remember, this is a private tour for you and your group. so worth it! if you are in Kyoto this is a must!
What a lovely experience! The guide was superb friendly and had great English. The food prep areas clean and organised. the experience and education was interesting and the food was tasty.
This is a brilliant market & cooking tour. It is a private tour for your group too. We had Momo as our guide, she was absolutely lovely and kind and knowledgeable. She ensured we tasted everything at the market, and then took us back to the studio where she helped us cook some of the best homemade Japanese food we have had! We had a great time and strongly recommend this tour. Thanks for having us Momo!
I had so much fun walking through the market and getting to know my guide. I had even more fun during the cooking class. It was so cool to experience Japanese cooking culture with a local and getting to eat an amazing meal afterwards.
llocal guider, Momo, is nice and friendly. She explained the historic market and introduce d Kyoto tranditional foods. I learned how to cook a rolling egg and Oyakodon. Momo is a good cooking tutor as well, who transfered the cooking skill to easy action. Oh oh.. one more thing, the knife store. She guided me to knife store and explained the knife category. Thx for the activity...
Visit to the market and course given by a Japanese woman from Kyoto which is a plus. Good explanations.
The class was very well organized and friendly. I had a wonderful time. Learning to cook tempura donburi and miso soup was a real pleasure. The cooking class is one of my best memories from my trip to Japan.
This was a fabulous experience. Our guide / instructor was lovely. The market is beautiful with lots of little shops showing their goods. Many of which are offering free samples to taste or try. You could wander around and try this without a guide but we definitely got more out of the experience having someone on hand who explained what we were looking at, acted as a translator, and told us a bit more about life in Kyoto. The cooking class itself was held in a clean and professional kitchen- well pitched for both adults and our 13 and 10 year olds and resulted in a very tasty lunch we then had in a private room.
Excellent tour of Kyoto's Nishiki Market and cooking class. Learned a great deal about the history of the market, Japanese products, approach to food preparation, and preparing some favorite Japanese dishes. Wonderful tour guide, very nice cooking facilities, and overall a very enjoyable afternoon. Highly recommended. (And come hungry - you'll get plenty to eat!)
The tour was enjoyable and met our expectations. Our guide met us at Nishiki Market and we walked through the market stopping at various stalls on the way. We then caught a taxi to the the Cooking Sun cooking class. We made miso soup and cooked a tempura donburi with shrimp and a tofu and egg donburi. We then ate it in a private room upstairs. We had a fun time and enjoyed our lunch.
