we had a very relaxing trip on the train. The staff was fantastic and being able to look out of the open car was pretty neat.

The scenery was incredibly beautiful. We experienced both bright, sunny days with dazzling sunshine and light rain, which even brought a rainbow. The train was clean and tidy, with comfortable seats, free Wi-Fi, and USB charging ports at every seat. The meal package was excellent, with no disappointments, and even included unlimited alcoholic beverages. We even encountered a Chinese-speaking attendant! The only minor drawback was that the train's audio guide wasn't available in Chinese; it would have been perfect if it had been.

Unfortunately, it was raining during our visit to Arthur’s Pass, so we didn’t get the chance to see some of the village’s main tourist attractions. We also had to wait around four hours for the train back to Christchurch, which made the experience feel like it wasn’t worth the money. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and the food was nice.

After hours spent in the sky, it was wonderful to settle into a spacious, comfortable room that felt instantly relaxing. The complimentary shuttle from the airport—arranged with just a quick phone call—made arriving stress-free and easy. The hotel has a cozy atmosphere with modern touches, and its location near Spitfire Square adds to the charm. I especially appreciated the considerate checkout time at 11 a.m., which gave me a gentle, unhurried start to the day.

Ideal location for those who wish to stay near to the airport as it provides the convenience of dinning and shopping for groceries especially for the road trip traveller.

The location is fantastic, right in the city center and next to the Bus Interchange, making it very convenient for taking buses and joining day trips. Because it's also a Hotel, the overall design and decor are much better than a typical hostel. It's amazing to have such high-end and comfortable facilities in a hostel! The eight-person room is large, and the bathroom is also big and equipped with shower gel and related items. The upper bunk ladder is specially designed, making it safe and painless to climb. The charging facilities next to the bed are advanced and complete, the bed is comfortable, and there's a long curtain for ample privacy. The downside is that the beds are pre-assigned, unlike other hostels where it's first-come, first-served, which I don't think is very fair. I happened to be in the upper bunk closest to the entrance and bathroom, and I had a 28-inch suitcase, which was inconvenient to open at the entrance. However, there was a vacant lower bunk by the window, with suitable space for organizing large luggage without affecting others. Also, it's very difficult to sleep at night because there's a nightclub downstairs with extremely loud music, and earplugs don't help. It doesn't stop until 3 a.m. Another issue, as many others have mentioned, is the 'phone key.' Some people find it convenient, but for me, it's very inconvenient because my phone might be low on battery all day and into the night, which is stressful when you're out, and sometimes it doesn't scan when entering the room.

Staff are nice! Unexpected to receive welcome hot cookie upon check-in. Breakfast quality is very good as well.
