3. Seafood & Sunsets
As the sun dips low, get ready for a dinner that’ll have your taste buds dancing. Most resorts have their own restaurants, but if you’re craving something extra special, look out for a seafood restaurant by the sea. Semporna is famous for its super-fresh seafood, so it’s the perfect way to end your first day in style—delicious bites, ocean breeze, and maybe even a cocktail or two after dinner.
Day 2: Island Hopping 🌊
4. Island Hopping, Snorkelling & Kayaking
Island hopping around Semporna is an absolute dream if you're into beaches, crystal-clear water, and a bit of adventure. Spots like Mataking, Timba Timba, and Sibuan are total gems—each one has its own vibe, with awesome views that’ll have you reaching for your camera every five seconds.
If you’re planning to snorkel (which you definitely should), go for an all-in-one tour. They usually take care of everything—boat transfers, gear, guides, lunch, and even the conservation fees—so all you have to do is show up and dive in. Book your tour through Klook for a seamless experience!
Another fun way to enjoy the ocean is by kayaking. Compared to snorkelling, ocean kayaking is a pretty underrated beach activity, but one we highly recommend! Opt for a transparent kayak so you'll be able to admire the crystal clear waters from every angle.
Day 3: Diving or Hiking
7. Diving at Sipadan
A trip to Semporna wouldn’t be complete without diving at the legendary Sipadan Island. Renowned for its incredible marine biodiversity, Sipadan is often called a diver’s paradise—and for good reason. From reef sharks and swirling schools of jackfish to stunning coral gardens, every dive here feels like stepping into a nature documentary. One of the most iconic sites is Barracuda Point, where lucky divers can witness the famous “barracuda tornado”—a breathtaking spectacle that’s as surreal as it sounds.
What really sets Sipadan apart is its dramatic underwater landscape. The island was formed through the centuries of coral growth on top of an extinct volcano, with vertical walls that plunge more than 600 meters into the deep blue. It’s an exhilarating experience, especially for advanced divers who enjoy a bit of a thrill.
Because of its popularity and fragile ecosystem, diving at Sipadan is carefully regulated. Only 120 permits are issued per day, so it’s essential to plan ahead and book your dive trips well in advance! The best time to visit? Aim for the months between February and June, or October to December, when the visibility is at its best and the seas are calm.

8. Diving at Nabul, Pom Pom, Mataking and Kapalai
Mabul Island, known for its rich variety of macro marine life, is a favorite among underwater photographers. Pom Pom Island is celebrated for its turtle nesting sites, while Timba Timba Island offers soft, white sand and the chance to see rare marine species. Visit Mataking Island for a unique diving experience in the underwater world, home to Malaysia’s first underwater post office.
9. Hiking and Nature Exploration
If you aren't too keen on diving, spend your third day in Semporna exploring nature instead! Beyond the underwater wonders, Semporna is full of adventures for nature lovers and curious explorers. If you're looking to take a break from the ocean (just for a bit!), there’s plenty to do on land that’ll still leave you in awe. Think lush forests and scenic hikes that offer some seriously stunning views.
Bohey Dulang Island is a favorite for a reason—the hike to the top is short but steep, and the view overlooking the turquoise lagoon is absolutely worth the effort. Then there’s Bukit Tengkorak, or “Skull Hill,” which isn’t as spooky as it sounds but definitely delivers when it comes to panoramic scenery. It’s also an archaeological site, adding a bit of history to your hike.
While you’re exploring the area, don’t miss the chance to visit a Bajau Laut village. Known as sea gypsies, the Bajau Laut people live a unique, seafaring lifestyle—many in stilt houses or boats right on the water. Just remember to be respectful: a warm “selamat pagi” (good morning) goes a long way, and be mindful of local customs.
Day 4: Explore Semporna Town & Departure
