Alpen Takayama Matsumoto Pass Review – My Honest Opinion I used this pass during my recent trip to Japan, which included the itinerary: Nagoya → Matsumoto → Alpine Route → Toyama → Takayama → Nagoya. 1. **Fast Delivery of Exchange Voucher:** It was great to receive the pass exchange voucher within two days of ordering. 2. **Easy Exchange for Physical Ticket at Nagoya Station JR Counter:** The process of exchanging the pass at the counter and immediately reserving seats made train travel much more convenient during the trip. 3. **High Utility for Multi-Region Travel:** Since my plan was to travel through Matsumoto, the Alpine Route, Toyama, and Takayama, it was very convenient not to have to arrange separate transportation for each segment. 4. **Beautiful Scenery from the Train:** The views from the train were truly wonderful. There were many sections where I traveled through mountains and natural landscapes, making the journey itself feel like part of the trip. 5. **Excellent Customer Service:** When an unexpected situation arose during my trip, Klook's customer service responded in real-time, allowing me to resolve the issue without much difficulty. 6. **Planning to Use Again:** I was very satisfied with this trip and plan to use Klook again when I visit next time. The driver picked us up from our hotel and dropped us off at the next hotel. We contacted the manager via Line, as requested in the procedure, and they sent us a photo of the vehicle and its license plate. We were able to communicate in English on Line. We don't regret using this transfer service and will use it again in the future if the opportunity arises.

⚠️ If you plan to get off at a stop along the way, please use a different option. I used the private van service for the Nagoya → Shirakawa-go → Takayama route. When booking, since the route departs from Nagoya and passes through Shirakawa-go and Takayama, I assumed there would be no extra charge if I got off in Takayama. However, in reality, a 10,000 yen surcharge is applied if passengers get off anywhere other than Nagoya. What was difficult for me to understand is that, in our case, the vehicle was scheduled to return to Nagoya after Takayama anyway, meaning there was almost no difference in the driving distance or the driver's schedule. Yet, an additional fee is charged simply because the passengers disembarked early in Takayama. In other words, Even if the vehicle operates on the route: Nagoya → Shirakawa-go → Takayama → Nagoya, If the passengers get off in Takayama, it is considered "disembarking outside the Nagoya area," resulting in a 10,000 yen extra charge. Therefore, please be especially careful if you, like me, plan to depart from Nagoya, sightsee in Shirakawa-go and Takayama, and then end your trip in Takayama. You might misunderstand the "Nagoya Pickup/Drop-off" condition on the booking page, simply thinking it is a product departing from Nagoya. If you plan to get off at an intermediate destination, be sure to check whether there are any additional fees before booking. If you intend to drop off at an intermediate location like Takayama, I recommend looking into a different private vehicle service rather than this one. I am leaving this review to let others know that, more than the price itself, failing to clearly understand these conditions beforehand can lead to unexpected extra costs.
