What JR train and bus are covered?
Discover the extensive coverage of the Ise-Kumano-Wakayama Area Pass, which includes JR trains, buses, and even convenient rental bicycles like 'Ekirin-kun.' Enjoy non-reserved seating on JR and Ise Tetsudo trains, as well as the Wakayama Electric Railway route between Wakayama and Kishi station. Explore the vast network of Mie Kotsu Buses and Kumano Gobo Nankai Bus routes. And for added flexibility, 'Ekirin-kun' rental bicycles are available at Wakayama and Shirahama stations for those aged 12 and older. Booking guidelines
- Booking your JR Pass: we suggest booking your JR Pass in advance, choosing your intended travel date on the calendar. This date is not the activation date but rather your planned travel date
- Exchanging for physical JR Pass: after purchasing the JR Pass on Klook, you’ll receive a Paper Exchange Order for each traveller. Remember that you have 90 days from the purchase date to exchange this Exchange Order for the physical JR Pass in Japan at an Official Exchange Office
- Activation and travel: following the exchange, you have 30 days to activate your JR Pass and commence your train travel adventures in Japan
Pass eligibility
- Free for children aged 0-5
- Valid only for non-Japanese passport holders with a "Temporary Visitor" Visa stamp on the passport. Non-Japanese passport holders with a permanent residence in Japan cannot use this product
- Secure a Temporary Visitor Stamp at immigration to be eligible for a JR Pass. Do not pass through the automated gates, as no stamp will be applied
- Japanese passport holders who have been residing outside of Japan for 10+ years are eligible to use a JR pass if they have 1) a valid Japanese passport and 2) a Copy of Overseas Residential Registration/Certificate of Overseas Residence from the Japanese embassy or legation of Japan in your foreign country of residence

The exchange counter at the Hong Kong Airport arrival hall was clearly marked and easier to find than expected. After receiving the paper voucher, I went to the JR counter at Kansai Airport to exchange it for the pass. The process was very smooth, and I also took the opportunity to reserve seats for the Kuroshio Limited Express at the counter. (Since the pass was activated the day after the exchange, if you want to reserve a specific seat before activation, you can only do so manually. Self-service ticket machines cannot process unactivated passes.) This pass offers excellent value for money, covering a wide area including Osaka, Wakayama, Shirahama, Shingu, and even as far as Nagoya. It's also valid for buses in the Kumano region. My only regret is that 5 days aren't enough to explore everything.

You can pick up your tickets at Hong Kong airport before departure, very convenient 👍🏻 Although the price looks a little expensive, but this trip from Osaka > Wakayama > Shirahama > Kumano > Nachi > Nagoya
After exchanging at Kansai Airport, I took the Hakura to the city directly with the pass, and then took the bus to Shingu in Wakayama and Nabari in Mie. Although the pass covers the "Mie Kotsu" bus, it seems to be only applicable to some routes. This time, the "Mie Kotsu" bus to Akame 48 Falls and Soni Plateau could not be used.
Redemption is very convenient. You can exchange the pass at the JR Ticket Office after getting off the plane at Kansai Airport. It also includes six JR reserved seats. If you need to make a reservation, you can ask the Ticket Office to book it for you on the spot. I used it to book the Kuroshio Express, which was very convenient. My five-day trip from Osaka to Wakayama and the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail was perfectly timed, and the five-day JR Pass was well worth the price. The Tama Train can also be used. The entire trip, except for the Nankai Main Line and local buses, is basically covered.
Buying this JR PASS will have it shipped to your home, then you go to a designated location to exchange and receive the JR PASS ticket. You can make seat reservations at the counter or at the ticket machine. This time I used it for five days from Nagoya all the way to Osaka, very convenient, recommended for those who need it!
Pass validity: Used once from the airport to Osaka, and then used the next day for a day trip to Koyasan. Worth the price and even covered the Koyasan cable car 🚡
