Fantastic 5.0
This is a review of the Port Stephens tour taken on October 3rd with Guide Jae-hyun Sohn. My satisfaction level is the absolute highest. I came alone and actually felt a bit guilty toward my family, friends, and relatives. Even if I have to visit again myself, I will definitely recommend it to them. Not a single moment was wasted; it was a packed day with never a dull moment. I have no idea why the day ended so quickly. From koalas, kangaroos, wombats, quokkas, to wallabies, I was able to fully enjoy quintessential Australian wildlife. On top of that, with countless flocks of sheep seemingly demanding handshakes, I honestly wondered if I had become a superstar in the animal kingdom. I still cannot forget the sensation in my hands. _The dolphin cruise was also amazing. The vivid atmosphere pierced right through my sight and hearing. When the dolphins cried out, my heart raced, too. Relaxing and leaning back on the deck on the way back felt like a truly divine experience. I forgot to pack my portable charger so I don't have photos from the deck, but the return journey felt like watching a voyage from The Odyssey. It was scenery so breathtaking that it made me indulge in the fantasy of whether Matt Damon might have cruised from island to island, reluctant to go home. I wished the time on the deck would pass ever so slowly. The sledding across massive sand dunes that could easily be mistaken for a desert made me think about how wonderful it would have been if I had come just five years younger. It's a shame my physical stamina couldn't keep up with how much fun it was. I vividly remember the boundless energy and happy expressions of the children who joined the tour. Additionally, even though I joined the tour by myself, Guide Jae-hyun Sohn took care of the little details and guided us so that the group members could easily bond with one another. Thanks to him, this tour remains a deeply satisfying memory. This is a review for a tour that is already famous, but makes you think you should hurry up and visit before it gets even more famous. I will wrap up with a strong recommendation.

Fantastic 5.0
Super fun experience! We started with the lower slope and slowly worked our way up to the higher areas, which was great for beginners. My 6-year-old son had such a great time that he didn’t want to leave! Definitely an activity the whole family can enjoy.

Such a fun and interesting experience! It was so lovely to be able to pet the stingrays and reef sharks. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and shared lots of interesting information about the sea animals. Definitely a great experience and one of the highlights of our trip!

Fantastic 5.0
The tour was soooo good! Our guide was super friendly, shared lots of fun stories throughout the day, and even helped us take photos everywhere we went. The camel riding and sandboarding were definitely the highlights of the trip and one of the best experiences you can have around Sydney. 4 Pines was also great! Lunch was included, and I chose the steak—it was really good. The wine tasting was amazing too. I ended up trying so many different wines that I got a little tipsy lol. Thanks to Shirley, our tour guide!

Great 4.0
I was lucky enough to sit on the front of 4WD with amazing views and the driver was very friendly. Fun unlimited sandboarding activity. The 4WDs go back and forth to drop and return so you can leave anytime when you are ready

Fantastic 5.0
My friend and I bought a pass for this trip, which saved us a lot. The highlight of this itinerary was sandboarding, which was excellent. We did it four times. The dolphins were okay; we only saw a little bit and couldn't get close, so it was decent. However, there's still a slight regret. We both chose to wait at the Wynyard Hotel. The Collaroy Gardens were just passable; don't expect too much. If you really want to see something, I recommend the Blue Mountains and Sydney Zoo package.

Great 4.0
So fun!!! The dune came with many difficulties of slopes and we were lucky that they gave us water as it was hot but windy.

What to know before visiting Port Stephens

Overview of Port Stephens and what draws visitors

Port Stephens is a coastal escape known for outdoor adventures, day tours and wildlife experiences. Klook booking patterns show a strong seasonal rhythm: tours and outdoor & sports activities dominate demand, with smaller but steady interest in indoor games, zoos & aquariums and cruises.

Best times to visit and how prices move

Demand peaks in May while the quietest month is September, according to Klook booking data, so expect the busiest atmosphere in May and much lighter crowds in September. Prices peak around August and dip to their lowest in October based on Klook’s past pricing, so the most expensive month for activities is not the same as the busiest month. If you want lower prices and fewer people, aim for October or September; if you want peak-season atmosphere and the liveliest schedule of tours, May is when Port Stephens feels most active.

Tips for travellers from Australia

Most visitors from Australia book relatively close to arrival: Klook data shows typical bookings happen about two days ahead, with last-minute options available a day before and early planners booking around six days out. That makes spontaneous trips easy—many activities can be reserved shortly before you go—yet during May you may still prefer to lock in popular tours a few days earlier to secure your spot.
