Fantastic 5.0
I had the best experience with them. They gave me enough suggestions on which type of kimonos and obis would look good on me. They also assisted my husband with his Yakuta. The staff was super friendly inspite of being so busy. They gave me a couple of options for hairstyles and the final one turned out to be so beautiful. I would also want to give a special mention to photographer Paul, who clicked such beautiful pictures and guided us with poses and what to do throughout the entire process. Even the unedited photos were so pretty.

jiang Cheng is the best! She knows a lot of beautiful places to take pictures. Very professional and friendly. she waited for us to be finished for our kimono session. we are family of 4 so it takes time. we love her work for 30 minutes a lot of pictures and different poses with her own props. She also take our pictures at the Yasaka Pagoda so we are comfortable with her already. Highly recommended her!!! :)

I wholeheartedly recommend this place! ❤️ It was an incredible adventure and a truly unforgettable experience that will stay with me forever. The photos turned out absolutely phenomenal like true works of art and will be a beautiful keepsake for a lifetime. The photographer was amazing, paying attention to every detail, giving helpful guidance, and making the whole moment even more special and filled with emotion. The staff was incredibly kind, and everything went smoothly in a calm and welcoming atmosphere. If you’re planning a visit to Kyoto, I highly recommend booking this experience. it’s a memory you’ll treasure forever! 🌸

teamLab Kyoto is the latest addition to the teamLab series. This one is really big and they have many exhibition halls spreading across 3 floors. Lights, sound, touch, etc., a very immersive experience that would absolutely amaze everyone. Worth the price!

Fantastic 5.0
Didn't want to spend time planning an itinerary, so I directly joined Klook's Ine + Amanohashidate one-day tour. First, we went to the Ine boathouses to take a walk and look around. The Ine sightseeing boat was the most fun. It seemed like our group was the only one on the whole boat, so there was a lot of space. Feeding the seagulls and eagles, they circled overhead, which was very interesting and special. Amanohashidate is beautiful, with the sea and sky meeting as one. Looking at the scenery upside down, it's still 'sea and sky meeting as one,' like a painting. There's no sense of incongruity whether you look at it right-side up or upside down. We took the single-chair cable car up to walk around and rode the panoramic bicycle. The scenery with a bit of snow was beautiful. This is a very good tour, highly recommended! The tour guide, Mr. Chen, was excellent, seamlessly switching between Japanese/English/Chinese. Knowing we had Chinese language needs, he let us sit at the front. After the English tour, he also introduced everything to us in Chinese, demonstrating high professionalism. When my family left an item on the tour bus, we contacted him, and he helped us find a way to get our item back. After placing the order, I emailed the vendor to inform them of our Chinese language needs. If there are Taiwanese (or people who need Chinese) tourists participating in this tour, you can email them to let them know your needs (I don't know if you can specify a tour guide?).

A really enjoyable experience indeed! was able to touch real snow for the first time, and experience the snowfall as well! our Tour guide, HuaHua was very interactive, gave clear instructions, and was just all round fun to be with. (please give him a raise, he deserves it) Will totally recommend this tour to the rest of my friends and family. once again, Thank you Huahua for the tour!

Fantastic 5.0
One of our favorite activities of our entire stay. Employees were fantastic. They worked hard because the water level was very low. Early January temperatures were perfect with the right clothing. Would be beautiful in the fall and spring but much more touristy. Took 2 hours to go down due to the lack of rapids

Our Kyoto and Nara tour was extremely well organized and smooth from start to finish. The itinerary was clear, the timing was well managed, and everything felt stress-free—even while traveling as a family. Our tour guide Ellie was wonderful. She consistently checked on us, made sure we were okay, and guided the group with care and professionalism. We never felt rushed, and she made sure everyone was comfortable at every stop. Because of Ellie’s attentiveness and organization, we were able to fully enjoy Kyoto and Nara without worrying about logistics. It was a relaxing and memorable experience for our whole family. Highly recommended—thank you Ellie for taking such good care of us 🙏✨

What to know before visiting Kyoto

What to Know about Kyoto

Things to Do in Kyoto

Northern Higashiyama

Ginkakuji: This peaceful temple features sand gardens, quiet paths, and views that reflect the calm side of old Kyoto. It’s an easy place to where you can enjoy slow walks and classic Japanese design while visiting Kyoto.

Philosopher’s Path: This riverside trail is lined with cherry blossoms and small shrines, creating a gentle route in spring. You can enjoy the breeze from the Kamo River and visit nearby temples and cafés.

Heian Shrine: This large shrine, linked to the Heian period, draws visitors with bright orange gates and wide garden spaces. It’s a good stop if you want to explore Kyoto’s history and quiet corners away from the busy city.

Central Kyoto

Nijo Castle: This UNESCO World Heritage Site shows the lifestyle of the imperial family, with wide halls, painted rooms, and calm gardens. It fits well into your Kyoto itinerary and is easy to reach in central Kyoto.

Nishiki Market: This long market in downtown Kyoto offers traditional Japanese snacks, green tea treats, seafood, and sweets. It’s a fun stop to explore local food during your Kyoto trip.

Pontocho Alley: This narrow lane near the city center is filled with cozy restaurants overlooking the river. You may even spot a maiko heading to her evening appointment.

Arashiyama

Bamboo Groves: This famous path runs through tall bamboo groves, making it one of the most photographed areas in the Kyoto area. You can come in the early morning for a quiet walk.

Monkey Park Iwatayama: This hilltop park lets you see monkeys up close while enjoying wide views of the mountains and the city below. It’s a fun way for you to experience Kyoto’s nature.

Saga Arashiyama Station: This relaxed part of Arashiyama offers small shops with kyo yaki pottery, snacks, and local crafts. It’s an easy place to explore before or after walking through the bamboo forest.

Tips before visiting Kyoto

1. Plan your route early

Kyoto has many popular spots, so planning your Kyoto itinerary helps you save time. This keeps your days simple and helps you avoid long rides between areas.

2. Start your day early

Many top attractions get crowded, especially during cherry blossoms and autumn colors. If you visit in the early morning, you’ll enjoy quieter views and easier photos. This also helps you stay cool in warmer months.

3. Wear comfortable shoes

You’ll walk a lot across temples, markets, and older streets. Paths in old Kyoto can be uneven, so good shoes make your day easier. You’ll enjoy exploring without feeling tired too soon.

4. Use trains and buses

Public transport is easily accessible, especially around Kyoto Station and major districts. You’ll find trains and buses connecting most top picks, and you can save money with day passes like the Kyoto City Subway and Bus 1 Day Ticket during longer stays. Many places are also easy for you to reach on foot once you get off the bus.

5. Try local meals and stay flexible

Kyoto has great food, from green tea sweets to small restaurant spots serving classics. If lines are long, explore nearby streets like Pontocho Alley, Nishiki Market’s side lanes, or Shijo-dori; you may find a new favorite place for dinner or breakfast. Keeping flexible helps you enjoy the flow of the city.
