Fantastic 5.0
The entire building was clean, and I felt safe staying there. Also, the Wi-Fi in my room was weak, so when I asked the front desk, they lent me a pocket Wi-Fi device for free, which was a great help.

Fantastic 5.0
Pros: 1. Convenient location, about a 5-minute walk from the tram station. 2. There's a 7-Eleven nearby, which is handy for stocking up. 3. The staff are very friendly and professional; basic communication in English is not a problem. 4. There are many restaurant options downstairs, and the wagyu restaurant's lunch is an excellent value! There's also a small shopping mall to browse. 5. The railway museum and aquarium are nearby, making it very family-friendly. Cons: There are only 4 self-service washing machines, which is far too few. This means guests often have to wait in line, which is quite inconvenient. It would be much better if more machines could be added.

Fantastic 5.0
I visited Kyoto for the first time and Agora hotel was a great 5 nights stay to visit the city.
cleanliness: the hotel was very clean, no complaints at all.
service: the staff was very polite and available.
transport access: we felt that it was easy to travel from the hotel via bus, subway and even train after a few minutes walk.
breakfast: they offer some complementary drinks such as coffee matcha and water, as well as bread and juice for breakfast (even with no breakfast pack).
hotel location: overall we were very happy with the location of the hotel as it had restaurants, transports, convinience stores and coffee shops close by.

Fantastic 5.0
Initially, I was just looking for Japanese-style accommodation, and I saw many bloggers recommending Umekoji Kadensho. Then, I saw that bicycles were available for rent, so I booked it. I managed to book a double room for three nights on Klook for just over 9,000 yen, which was quite a bargain! 😍 The conclusion is that there were no bicycles available for rent, but all other facilities were very satisfying. The public bath was extremely clean and had a wonderful atmosphere, making my first time bathing openly with others completely comfortable. I even bathed day and night! The private bath was relatively more ordinary but perfect for families and couples, and also suitable for those who are not comfortable bathing openly with others. 🫶🏻 The hotel also offers many free snacks and ramen, as well as free yukata for guests to try on, which is definitely worth experiencing. I highly recommend Umekoji Kadensho! Since my itinerary involved early departures, I didn't include breakfast in my booking this time, but I did add breakfast for the last day. Personally, I don't think it was the best value for money, but it's still worth trying. 👍🏻

I had a great stay, experiencing a traditional Japanese house. It was cozy, charming, and gave us a wonderful taste of Kyoto’s traditional atmosphere.

Fantastic 5.0
budget-friendly, no-frills lodging in a central location, scoring an average of roughly 3.5 to 4.2 out of 5 stars across major booking platforms
Situated in Shimogyo-ku, it is a short 5- to 7-minute walk from Shijo and Karasuma Subway Stations. It is also within walking distance of Nishiki Market, local shopping streets, the Kamo River, and convenience stores/supermarkets
Generally inexpensive compared to nearby competitors, making it a practical pick for solo travelers or budget-conscious couples
Includes free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour front desk, coin laundry, luggage storage, and basic en-suite room facilities (fridge, kettle, flat-screen TV, air conditioning)
The property (opened in 1990 and renovated in 2013) features older interior styling, and some guests note signs of wear or minor plumbing/rust issues in older bathrooms
Like many Japanese business hotels, rooms are small by international standards and can feel tight if you are traveling with large luggage or family groups
