Hokkaido Water activities

There weren't many reviews online, so I was a bit worried at first (later I found out you couldn't bring phones). But when I actually got there, I saw quite a few people had signed up, at least 30 to 40, and some even brought kindergarten-aged children to play along. The actual experience was about two hours, including travel time (15-20 minutes). Each boat had a coach leading it, and the equipment was very complete (full body cold and waterproof gear), so even if you went completely into the water, you wouldn't get wet! This was one of the kids' happiest activities on this Hokkaido trip!

The scenery was beautiful, and the tour guide was professional, offering instructions in English. The water was quite cold in mid-August, but the equipment provided was excellent, allowing visitors to enjoy the experience with peace of mind. A photographer also took high-quality pictures of the visitors at various points during the trip, which is highly recommended. However, there are no convenience stores nearby, so it's advisable to purchase anything you need beforehand.

It was our family’s first smelt fishing and it was a fantastic experience for us. We were told that many operators decided to cancel due to season ending and the ice is melting. Our provider, decided to go ahead with extra safety measure (woke up at 4am to prepare a walking path for us to cross the river) in place as he saw that we were traveling with a kid and he did not want to disappoint him. Such dedication is exemplary! Thank you for making it such a wonderful experience for my family. Last but not least, the smelt were so good!! The best fried fish I ever had! 😋
