[Hokkaido, Sapporo Ice Fishing] Sapporo Smelt Fishing Experience

it was an amazing experience!!! everything was explained very well and things and the trip itself was very simple: we got picked up at the station, it was a wimple drive to the location, then we went straight into fishing!. the instructor also gave us heating packs, which was a lovely (and much needed) surprise! when I struggled to get fish, he helped be 1-to-1 and coached me, and I caught a few afterward

It was our family’s first smelt fishing and it was a fantastic experience for us. We were told that many operators decided to cancel due to season ending and the ice is melting. Our provider, decided to go ahead with extra safety measure (woke up at 4am to prepare a walking path for us to cross the river) in place as he saw that we were traveling with a kid and he did not want to disappoint him. Such dedication is exemplary! Thank you for making it such a wonderful experience for my family. Last but not least, the smelt were so good!! The best fried fish I ever had! 😋

the tour was well organised and the guide is very kind and will explain in the bus on how to fish before we reach the fishing area. They drove us to an area tt is safer and ice are thicker n less crowded so we gt high chance of getting more smelt fish. totally enjoy it and they fried the smelt fish n it taste so crunchy n delicious. Recommend to bring a small bottle of sake with you to go with the fried smelt fish

A great choice for family activities. Departed on time, the tour guide provided detailed explanations, and even beginners caught fish. The fried fish was fresh, sweet, and delicious, and both adults and children had a great time. Highly recommended, highly recommended!!

My family and I had a fantastic time with Amik driving us and teaching us how to fish on the day! His knowledge and expertise were super helpful, he's very friendly. Babu helped cook up the delicious smelt afterwards. According to Amik catching 10 smelt is good, and 20 is great! And the record holder for the season so far is 87 smelt caught. We were lucky and collectively managed to catch 51 fish! It was a blast! The trick is to have your lure just under the ice about 60-70cmish and when you see the lure slightly twinge, to pull up your entire line (don't reel it in!) 10/10 was an experience we will never forget :) Thanks Amik and Babu! Very professional staff, from the moment he picked us up in the location... very helpful and very kind, he explains everything for our safety. highly recommended! he even helped us fish and gave us tips.

It was a fantastic experience. The scenery there is incredibly beautiful. The drivers and guides who provided transportation were all very, very nice people. They patiently taught you how to use the tackle and patiently put bait on the hooks. Finally, the fish is made into delicious fried fish.

An unforgettable experience! The guide was very enthusiastic, punctual, and took great care of every customer. He patiently and attentively explained the fishing techniques, making ice fishing a fun activity even for children. We caught several fish, including some quite large ones. The tempura at the end was a perfect finishing touch.

We took our 2 kids aged 3 and 6 to ice fishing. The tour started on time and it was a pleasant half hour drive to the Barrato river. We had a good day and caught about 20-30 smelt fish. they fry it up at the end of the session and the kids loved it. Amek was polite and patient with us. I wasn’t feeling too well at the end of the day and Amek went above and beyond to help us get back to our hotel. Many thanks Amek, and we hope to be back for the fourth time next year :)
