Things to do in Taichung

I had great experience visiting Alishan National Forest Recreation Area through a Klook joiner’s tour led by Eric Lin, an excellent English-speaking tour guide who handled a group of nearly 40 guests with ease and professionalism. He shared Alishan’s rich history and culture throughout the scenic trails, making the trip enjoyable even for seniors. Mr. Lin knows exactly where and when to take beautiful, Instagram-worthy photos, and he also provided Klook badges with a printed Alishan map. What impressed me most was his tour-guide strategy of stopping at specific points along the trail to share key facts and carefully check attendance before moving forward—ensuring no one was ever left behind. Complimentary sweet bread and bottled water were also provided, and all logistics such as tickets, meals, and restroom breaks were stress-free. The optional lunch pack (NTD 120) was healthy, hearty, and delicious. Overall, the experience was fun, relaxed, and truly professional. Highly recommended!

Having lunch at the first stop, Zhongshe Tourism Flower Market (admission fee 150 NTD per person), was a good choice to handle a long and tight schedule. I applied for this tour after seeing a review from another company saying that they only gave 50 minutes for meal time, which was too rushed. For the lunch box, you can choose between chicken leg or pork rice bowl, and for the drink, you can choose between tea (sour) or milk tea. It costs 200 NTD per person, so prepare cash in advance. The taste is okay, but don't expect too much. The portion might be small for men. It was nice that we could choose one free item per person between Chun Shui Tang milk tea or Miyahara ice cream, so for 3 people, we could have 1 milk tea + 2 ice creams (with waffles). We enjoyed it without waiting in line! Personally, Chun Shui Tang's original milk tea is the best! Xing Fu Tang (Shi Fu Tang) in Ximending is too sweet 😑. I heard there's also Chun Shui Tang in Terminal 2, so I'm planning to have another cup before departure. Libby, the guide, was cheerful and managed the schedule well. The weather was cloudy, so we couldn't see the Gaomei Wetlands sunset properly, and there's no time to enjoy the sunset as we have to return to Taipei. Taichung seems perfect for a day trip. It seems that the transportation and tourism infrastructure are not that good yet. It was a fulfilling day!

The bus was very comfortable and clean. It has sufficient space, seatbelts, trash bins, etc. A free bottle of water is also available for each passenger. The guide was punctual in following the itinerary but also considerate to wait for passengers and flexible to adjust schedules accordingly. She, with visual aids, oriented us about bus travel safety, provided trivia on our destinations, and detailed where to find toilets, souvenir shops, and meeting points.

Klook offers discounted tickets for 1 adult and 1 child at $1315, which is cheaper than buying tickets on-site and includes a bonus Starbucks coupon. During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, I took my child to Mala Bay for the first time. I recommend starting with the Lazy River and the inflatable water park (life jackets required for both adults and children). The double-rider waterslide at Abu Bay is also fun and exciting.

The staff is very friendly. There were very few people visiting two days before Lunar New Year's Eve (Saturday), so we could enjoy ourselves to the fullest! We happened to catch a Klook buy-one-get-one-free ticket deal, which was super cost-effective! Children above elementary school age can be left to play on their own, and there are parent seating areas outside each zone. Parents of elementary school-aged children don't need to waste money buying companion tickets. There is also a small outdoor children's playground in the plaza on the first floor, where you can purchase a voucher for six amusement facilities. The original price is NT$300, but the add-on price is only NT$240. Convenience of booking with Klook: High. You can buy and redeem it for immediate use on-site, which is more cost-effective than buying tickets on-site! Facilities: Many Experience: Great. The kids played from 1:40 PM until almost 6:00 PM in the evening before leaving.

We truly enjoyed our visit to Taichung Natural Science Museum with our son. The interactive exhibits were fun, educational, and perfect for kids. A great place for family bonding and learning together

Online ticket purchase is convenient and cheaper, but you need to redeem a physical ticket on-site. There are absolutely no dull moments, and the performance is excellent! The horses are also well-cared for; their coats are shiny. Highly recommend experiencing it; adults, children, and the elderly will all enjoy it! The cost-performance ratio is very high. Photos are allowed on-site, but no video recording or flash photography.

The QR code entry was very convenient, but unfortunately the weather wasn't great that day. It was very foggy, so we couldn't see the beautiful scenery or the animals. There weren't even any birds. I usually see a lot of animals and insects when I hike other mountains.
