Woke up super early! Estri was very kind. The path to see the sunrise didn't have streetlights that day, which was super scary. I walked up the mountain in the dark by myself. Thankfully, other people joined me later. I couldn't see the sunrise very well that day because there were a lot of clouds, but it turned into incredibly beautiful mountain mist. A local guy helped me take pictures and then asked me for a tip. Since I was traveling alone and no one else could take pictures for me, I agreed. Borobudur is definitely a very unique place, but it seems like you have to go with a guide. Afterwards, I went on a jeep tour. Sitting in the jeep and driving on the trails made me feel like I was in a video game scene. I really felt it! Finally, I drove the jeep in the water and got wet, it was a really fun day!

Our driver Handoyo was very punctual. He introduced us to the landmarks of Yogyakarta along the way and helped us take photos at Jomblang Cave. I have to say, the photos he took were much better than the ones they sold to us at the attraction later.

Belinda and her family was very gracious. She explained the Batik painting process and how long it takes. Makes you appreciate the traditional art forms and definitely justifies why it’s worth paying for traditional art pieces. Their time and effort is valuable. I hope whoever reads this from foreign or within the country understands why it’s important to support local and traditional art forms. Some of these can take a week to make!

A truly fascinating experience. I highly recommend that anyone visiting Yogyakarta set aside an extra half-day for this. The gamelan master's daughter speaks excellent English, and the entire lesson was very detailed. We got to try five or six different instruments, and you don't need any musical background to have a great time. Gamelan is an ancient musical form, often using a pentatonic scale, that features an ensemble of various percussion instruments like gongs, metallophones, and drums. It frequently accompanies Javanese religious ceremonies, shadow puppet plays, or dance performances. Debussy was heavily influenced by gamelan, and you can even hear K.K. Slider play a version of it in Animal Crossing. The playing experience is very enjoyable, almost meditative, due to its relatively simple rhythms and abundant repetition. The teacher mentioned that a Chinese band called 'Wo Qi' (which means 'I'm angry') came to learn for a day last week, which was quite amusing. We looked it up and realized it was 'Frog Pond' (Wa Chi)... We'll definitely try to catch their performance if we get the chance when we go back.

We booked a private driver tour from 27–30 July, and it was truly one of the highlights of our Indonesia trip. He was always punctual, helpful, and made sure we were comfortable every day. We would also like to thank Mr. De Jong, the tour administrator, for his excellent communication and efficient arrangements before and during our trip. Everything was well organized, making our journey completely stress-free. Thanks to both of them, we were able to visit many places on our bucket list in Yogyakarta and create unforgettable memories. My driver, Anto, is incredibly professional and reliable, making my customized itinerary seamless. As a solo female traveler, I felt so fortunate to have such a reassuring and trustworthy driver. Anto is highly knowledgeable. He not only shared a lot about the local culture but was also eager to teach me some Indonesian phrases, which made my trip so much fun. He took me to try plenty of local delicacies and even prepared drinks and snacks for me. Thank you, Anto! I highly recommend him—he is a 10/10 (more like 100/10!) driver and tour guide. If I ever visit Yogyakarta again, I will definitely book him as my guide without hesitation!

We had a wonderful experience with Noor as our driver. He was friendly, reliable, and made our trip very comfortable. We especially appreciate him informing us about the last-minute closure of Prambanan Temple on the following day. Thanks to his timely update, we were able to quickly adjust our schedule and visit the temple before it closed. Otherwise, we would have completely missed this important attraction. Noor drove us safely throughout the trip and was always punctual and accommodating. As tourists visiting the area for the first time, one suggestion for improvement would be for drivers to be a little more proactive in recommending interesting places, local attractions, restaurants, or activities nearby, rather than waiting for us to decide where to go next. Local recommendations would greatly enhance the overall travel experience. Overall, we are very grateful for Noor's excellent service and helpfulness, and we would be happy to recommend him to other travelers.

Our driver, Romy, is super friendly and helpful. He took a good care of us during the tour, made sure we are hydrated (you know how hot it can be in Indonesia). Guides are super recommended too if you want to learn on the buildings and the history behind (we know nothing before this trip). It's a worth to stay longer in Prambanan for the sunset.
