Event Introduction

The Taiwan Culinary Exhibition, an international event part of the Taiwan Tourism Biennial Calendar, will take place from July 31 to August 3 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. This year, with the theme “Terroir Fermentation,” it invites all sectors to focus on the art of “brewing and fermentation” to collectively respond to the imagination of Taiwanese flavors intertwined with terroir and taste. From brewing and maturation to transformation, it connects Bib Gourmand delicacies with five-star cuisine, presenting a rich and layered taste of Taiwan. Gathering celebrity chefs, ingredients, dishes, and souvenirs, the exhibition is divided into four major themed areas: “Exploring Taiwanese Flavors,” “Gold Medal Specialties,” “International Cuisine,” and “Astonishing Artistry.” It invites central government agencies, local governments, hotels, restaurants, souvenir vendors, and international organizations to participate. As an international exchange platform, it aims to create a sensory feast that satisfies visitors’ sight, hearing, smell, and taste.

Taipei Food Fair felt like a place for families to shop for groceries, similar to Hong Kong's Industrial Trade Fair. There were many delicious cooked foods, such as stir-fried rice vermicelli with pork balls, etc. However, I found it a bit difficult to buy souvenirs to take back to Hong Kong because most of the items were frozen foods.

I remember the last time I went to a food exhibition was 15 years ago when I was still in high school. There were really a bit few booths this time. I hope there can be more booths next time.
