The entire package tour, from the High-Speed Rail transfer to Alishan, and the guided tour of Alishan, all went smoothly. The accommodation was also very close to the station, making it convenient to wake up early to watch the sunrise. Tony was absolutely the best tour guide we could have asked for on this trip! The drive to Alishan involves some winding roads, but he drove so smoothly and safely that we felt completely comfortable in the car. He is a fantastic conversationalist who kept us entertained during the long drive, and he really knows his way around the Alishan forests. A highlight was when he took us to a quiet village to have lunch and watch the train pass by—a spot we wouldn't have found on our own. He even brought his own camera and shared high-quality photos of us and the scenery afterward. I was traveling with my senior parents, and Tony was incredibly patient and made the entire experience easy for them. We highly recommend booking him for a group tour!

This was a very well-organized trip. I wasn’t expecting much and this exceeded my expectations. From the confirmation WhatsApp messages to answering my questions, the tour operator was quick to reply and understood what I was asking (in English). The day before, you are put into a large WhatsApp group and everyone going on the tour is sent messages to let them know which transfer vehicles they will be boarding. Different drivers and guides appear along the way. An information package with vouchers, maps, and the itinerary are given out the moment you meet your first driver. Large luggage is driven up to the hotel, the train ride up Alishan was fun and beautiful in an old swaying train, and upon arrival there is someone waiting to pick you up. Timings of when to be back are verbally given out; use a translator app if you cannot understand. Watch your timings. There are a lot of people waiting for the sunrise train; you get an option to switch to a bus to go to another location too.

I don't think it's expensive, and it's worth it, especially for solo travelers. There's no need to rush for the bus or endure long travel times. The driver will explain some history to broaden your knowledge and help everyone take photos at every stop. A major plus is that the driver assists with purchasing train tickets, and a lunch box is included. You'll stop at Fengqi, a tea garden, and several different walking trails on the way to Alishan, which you wouldn't be able to visit if you took public buses. There are also stops for restrooms, and the driver provides tips on what to see and where to go inside the park. Although you only get about two hours inside Alishan National Forest, it's sufficient if you're not planning to climb to the very top. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and had a good rest in the MPV. I also got to see diverse scenery along the way. It was unhurried and relaxing. My only regret is that the weather wasn't great in the evening, so I couldn't see a beautiful sunset or the sea of clouds. There's no forced purchasing if you're taken to a souvenir store.
