You need to arrive at least 10 minutes before the time indicated on the reservation, because on the ticket, for example, it says entry from 18:50 to 19:00. There are some devices that look like cell phones that translate what you are seeing; I suppose they have an extra cost. I didn't know they existed until I saw them with the people in front of me, and they mainly translated the comedic scene. But if not, the information booklet explains what you are seeing, and it's available in Spanish, which was the best part. It's a good experience, it's just that each art display lasts a very short time.
It truly felt like they extracted the essence of the most signature traditional Japanese culture and performed it for us. 😂😂😂 It was great that they announced the origins and details in both English and Japanese as they transitioned between different performances, such as the tea ceremony, koto performance, flower arrangement, manzai (comic dialogue), and maiko dance! Taking a commemorative photo with the maiko at the end also became a cherished memory~!
A good primer on traditional Japanese art and culture. You’ll see performances of UNESCO World Culture. Saw matcha making, Japanese harp playing, flower arranging, bugaku dance, kyogen comedy, hagoromo, and Kyomai dance which was my favorite. The program also advertised bunraku puppet theater, but was not included in the show. Not sure if it was supposed to. Would have liked to see that. The whole program runs for about an hour or so. Pricey in my opinion based on the length of the show, but the sheer variety of traditions you’re exposed to may be worth it for some. A crash course in Japanese performing arts.
I am so happy that we booked the tickets. The show was amazing, I had a lot of fun and learned so much. The explanations were helpful and interesting. Loved every second :)
Es sind sieben kurze Vorführungen. Teezeremonie, Ikebana, Koto-Musik, die Tänze der Maikos, ... Es war eine wirklich schöne Erfahrung.
