We took a Grab there, it was raining, from our hotel in the Old Quarter to The Quintessence of Tonkin Show. We spent 587,600 VND for the trip there and 280,800 VND for the return to the hotel. The journey took around 1.5 hours during peak times and 45 minutes during non-peak hours. We highly recommend including transport when purchasing your ticket. While the ride was long and expensive, the 1-hour show, which involved 250 performers (both local farmers and students), was amazing. Knowing that the show helps supplement the farmers’ income in a sustainable way is truly meaningful. Most categories are outdoors, so bring your poncho in case it rains. The show is mainly in Vietnamese, so we hardly understood it, but you can always use AI to find out the story plot before watching.

The show was spectacular. It is definitely a must watch when in Hanoi. Probably only thing outside of golf I will do if I'm ever back to Hanoi. It's definitely a cultural spectacle. Sadly it was raining all the way through the journey to the place. It stopped just before the show started and went on very well.

This is definitely a MUST in your itinerary. We really enjoyed it. The light effects and the performance were amazing! We were in awe the whole time we were watching. They have a lot of performers. We arrived an hour before the show started, so we waited at their canteen, and while waiting, there was a lot of entertainment too. You can play games with the performers and dance with them. There were also some who sang, danced, and acted. Tip: Arrive at the pick-up point 30 minutes before because the first bus gets full easily. Buy the GOLD ticket because it has the best view. Be sure to line up first so you can choose your seat. Sit at the center and top so you can appreciate the whole performance. We were lucky that there were a lot of vacant seats since it was off-season, so we got to transfer to the nearest seats whenever we needed to take photos. Overall, it was worth it!!!! We’re glad we included it in our tour. It’s best to book through Klook because the venue is far from the city, so you need a bus going back and forth.

Recommended by my Vietnamese friend to watch. Blew my mind how it was being done and it was so good that I don’t know which is the best words to describe. It brings out the culture of Vietnam and I am proud of the work they did. Those who want to travel there to watch, I recommend to get their 2 ways round trip bus as this area is out of the city area. My friend and I we made a mistake where we booked the ticket and go there by grab. We have a problem when going back because when we are looking for help seem like not many people able to speak English and we managed to booked grab where we select their local taxi service. Hope this is a small reminder tip. This show is a must to watch when you are in Hanoi. It is really good!!!!!!!

It's recommended to book a ticket with 2-way transport because the venue is far from the Hanoi city center. There was no restaurant nearby the venue. The show is open-door and it was slightly raining. The raincoat was provided. The show was 1 hour long.

When it comes to shows in Hanoi, The Quintessence of Tonkin is a must-see. It's a large outdoor theater on the water, a little distance from the center of Hanoi, with outdoor seating for the audience. I think it's quite affordable at just under 4,000 yen for a one-hour performance, including round-trip transportation from Hanoi city. Boats float by, performers act on the water, giant structures emerge from the water, and even real elephants and cows make an appearance. You can dine and drink before the show, and there's also a singing performance at the food and beverage venue. While Ho Chi Minh City's AO Show is also great, this show in Hanoi is definitely worth seeing! ^_^

A magical experience from beginning to end. While English translation was only provided at the start of the performance and at the end, the dancing itself didn't need any translation as the stories were told clearly through the visuals and dancing.

Set outdoors against the backdrop of a mountain and a huge lake (yes, the stage is literally on water), this performance blends traditional Vietnamese culture, history, and religion into one seamless, jaw dropping spectacle.We’re talking water puppetry, folk singing, orchestras, stunning light work, and dancers moving in complete sync, almost like watching painting come to life

The performance was spectacular, with the venue's sound, lighting, and visual effects perfectly coordinated. Please note! The shuttle bus meeting point is far from Hanoi's main tourist areas. It takes approximately 30 minutes to travel from the Old Quarter to the meeting point, so those requiring shuttle service should factor in travel time. The shuttle meeting time (4:30 PM) is a bit too early. The park is hot and stuffy in the summer, and everyone had to wait in the square for over two hours just to see a one-hour performance. We suggest delaying the meeting time by one hour; a 6:00 PM departure would be more appropriate.
