Less than 2 hours after I checked into my hotel near the Old Quarter, I walked to the venue of water puppet show of 5.20pm near Hoan Kiem Lake. I was tired but the very entertaining, historically rich and professional performance energised me!!! The English audio guide (device) operates by itself & one only needs to adjust the volume as desired. It was useful to have the translation to better appreciate the action in front of me. I got the VIP seat and sat in the middle of the second row from the front, offering a fantastic almost unblocked view. I loved the musicians & singers who provided the much needed accompaniment for an invigorating show. The theatre was packed with adults, children & youth from all over the world as it was suited for all ages & backgrounds! Just walk towards Hoan Kiem Lake using online maps to get to Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre and exchange your Klook voucher at the red table with staff right there for a ticket before the show. They will have your name.

The entire show was entertaining and enlightening. It showcased the unique talents of Vietnamese people in storytelling, music, and theater. It also highlighted how ingenious people are in creating art based on their surroundings. Our seats in the VIP section were right in the middle of the second row, so we had a great view of the entire stage.

Un espectáculo agradable para disfrutar mientras se escapa del calor exterior. Hay mucha gente involucrada en este espectáculo de marionetas acuáticas, por lo que vale la pena dedicarle 50 minutos. Es bueno llegar a este teatro 5-10 minutos antes de que comience la sesión para recoger su entrada y sentarse cómodamente. El teatro estaba lleno, por lo que este espectáculo es popular.

Các màn trình diễn tại nhà hát Thăng Long rất thú vị. Chúng tôi đã biết được những câu chuyện về Việt Nam từ buổi biểu diễn này. Mặc dù đôi khi có sự chậm trễ trong phần dịch thuật, chúng tôi vẫn hiểu được vở kịch. Thật thú vị khi họ điều khiển những con rối dưới nước, và cả âm nhạc truyền thống mà họ tạo ra.

Having seen few puppet shows while growing up, this one was a different experience as water adds specific element and relatable to story telling. A must watch if you have time and consider opting first few rows as sitting in back rows may not give good experience when seeing small puppets. Kids friendly and they even provide extra cushion seat for younger kids. Better to book online as when we went the place was crowded and shows were already booked. Onle downside of booking online is that you can select the section but not the seats. Overall, a great show.

📍Chỗ ngồi: Chúng tôi đã mua ghế VIP, khoảng cách đến sân khấu biểu diễn rất gần. 📍Giá: Mặc dù giá cao hơn một chút so với quầy vé, nhưng ít nhất chúng tôi có thể có vé và chọn chỗ ngồi tốt hơn sớm hơn. 📍Buổi biểu diễn: Tôi đã từng xem loại hình biểu diễn này ở Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh trước đây nhưng không mượn tai nghe dịch thuật nên tôi thực sự không hiểu cốt truyện. Lần này, tôi đã mượn tai nghe dịch thuật và hiểu rõ hơn, vui hơn so với trải nghiệm trước đây của tôi. Rất đáng giá!

A must visit if you are in Hanoi. A very unique and ancient puppet show originally from the rice farms of Vietnam from 11th century brought to life by the water puppet artists along with live music and signing by local artists. We opted for the VIP ticket and were seated at the first row for ab unrestricted view. We also got the translator which helped to understand the various stories in English. Otherwise the show is mostly in local language. My recommendation is to include this show in your itinerary and get the translator for better understanding. While klook is definitely expensive that the ticket prices if you book at the counter it avoids long queue and risk of not getting tickets at your preferred ticket. Klook has a dedicated counter, you can show the vouchers and the person would give you physical tickets.

The Water Puppet Theater is a must-visit attraction in Hanoi. Even after walking around the lake several times, I never would have guessed it was the Water Puppet Theater building. Given the large number of tourists around, it's clear this is a popular spot. I booked VIP seats through Klook and arrived 10 minutes before the show, which was perfect. Since individual seats are assigned when you book, there's no need to queue or rush to get in. The audio guide provides pre-recorded explanations that play according to the scene, rather than simultaneous interpretation. Because of this, it can be difficult to understand 100% of the show. While the concept of water puppetry itself is unique, you might be disappointed if you have high expectations for the content. It's definitely best to book in advance, and if you want to see it up close, VIP seats are recommended.

It's definitely a good use of an hour if you are in Hanoi. Will recommend to use the English Translator provided outside the theater as the show is in Vietnamese. The music, instruments and the puppets in the show are exquisite
