Besonders gut haben mir die Multimedia-Präsentationen gefallen, die das Lernen für Besucher jeden Alters unterhaltsam machten. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit, und die Gestaltung machte es einfach, in meinem eigenen Tempo zu erkunden. Es gibt auch ein hübsches Café und einen Geschenkeladen mit einzigartigen lokalen Souvenirs. Insgesamt ist das Lanyang Museum eine perfekte Mischung aus Bildung und Unterhaltung. Es ist ein Muss für jeden, der nach Yilan reist. Ich kann es nur wärmstens empfehlen und würde gerne wiederkommen! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my first visit, so I only explored the general permanent exhibition areas. Although the exhibition hall has many floors, it's not very large, and I quickly toured everything. The exterior looks big, but the interior is actually quite manageable. Despite this, key exhibits are placed in every corner, indicating excellent planning. The flow on each floor is also very clear, making good use of every space. Especially when you look up and see the whale skeleton hanging in mid-air, it's quite impressive. There are also interactive areas, like a boat you can stand on to imagine fishermen braving the waves, and an audio-visual zone where you can learn about indigenous life, tools, and other explanations. While a full tour doesn't take much time, it's very rewarding and a great place to visit on a rainy day or when you're not sure where to go.

However, you don't want to stay at home all day because of this, especially since it's also hot at home, and the electricity consumed by running the air conditioner all day is not to be underestimated. Why not visit a museum? It saves energy, is environmentally friendly, and while gaining knowledge, you can also save money for your family. This time, my husband and I visited the Lanyang Museum in Toucheng Township, Yilan County. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the recent exhibitions have also been quite spectacular: The free-to-visit special exhibition - "Whale Spirit and the Sea - Marine Debris Whales" Art Creation Exhibition, is located at the Lanyang Museum - Wushih Harbor Station (next to Wushih Harbor Transfer Station). This exhibition is a collaboration between the Lanyang Museum, Yilan County Gengfang Elementary School, and a marine concept promotion team. They collected marine debris and created art. The exhibition showcases creative art pieces such as "Marine Debris Whales" and "Little Monster Wind Chimes" made by students using marine debris. Through the children's imagination, it connects different generational perspectives and viewpoints in marine environmental education, hoping to inspire more people to understand marine environmental issues. The special exhibition with a ticket price of only 50 NTD - "Painting Nature - Taiwan Special Exhibition in Natural History Paintings," introduces the theme of scientific illustration. From the macroscopic development of natural history to the microscopic illustrations of Taiwan's flora and fauna, it guides the public to understand the process of exploring Taiwan's natural history and the fascinating blend of scientific and aesthetic qualities in scientific illustration. On holidays, you might as well visit the Lanyang Museum with your family for a deep journey combining culture and nature. The scenery around the museum is beautiful and pleasant, with rich wetland ecosystems. The #WushihHarbor seascape is also well worth exploring. I hope to have more time next time to take a boat to the charming Guishan Island and unveil the mysterious veil of this beautiful island.

Online tickets are cheaper than buying on-site. You need to scan the code at the ticket exchange machine next to the ticket counter to get your admission ticket. The Children's Archaeology Hall requires an additional ticket purchase. The exterior of the museum is great for photos. The permanent exhibition inside the museum is divided into four floors, based on mountains, plains, sea, and time, introducing Yilan's local cultural background. A quick visit, excluding the Archaeology Hall, takes about an hour and a half. For a more in-depth tour, you can spend 3-4 hours, and audio guides are available for rent. There are also DIY activities on-site that you can participate in. The only drawback is that the parking lot is a bit far. Highly recommended.

The Lanyang Museum primarily introduces the early formation of Taiwan Island, plant types, fisheries, settlement formation methods, and topics like the "Bamboo Wind and Orchid Rain" (a local weather phenomenon), which is quite different from other museums in Taiwan. It's definitely worth a visit for those who haven't been. The architecture of the Lanyang Museum is also a major highlight. Inside the permanent exhibition, there's a special exhibition on traditional Atayal women from Nanao, which, although small, is quite worth seeing. It runs from June 8, 2023, to September 5, 2023.
