Yilan: Excursão de meio dia à Ilha Guishan (Observação de baleias)

Today I went whale watching at Guishan Island, Yilan, and it was absolutely amazing! 🚢 The morning sun shone on the sea, and it felt incredibly comfortable. 🤩 We took a boat out to sea, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. ⛰️ Then, we saw many whales leaping out of the water, which was super exciting! 🐳 Their majestic figures were truly astonishing, and I couldn't stop taking photos. 📸 Near Guishan Island, you can also see unique geological landscapes, like the turtle head of Turtle Island. 🐢 There's also a chance to see adorable dolphins 🐬 swimming around the boat, so cute! Before boarding, there was a detailed explanation on how to wear life jackets, and staff would constantly check if passengers were wearing them correctly, prompting adjustments when needed. This significantly enhanced safety. The guide was very experienced and explained the geography, customs, and history of Guishan Island. Most importantly, the sea was very calm, and we saw a whole pod of over a hundred spinner dolphins. The adults on board were even more excited than the children. I recommend queuing early to choose a deck seat for a better view.

The boat model is good and comfortable to ride. The front deck is quite spacious for sightseeing. If you get tired, you can hide in the boat's storage area to enjoy the air conditioning, which is very comfortable. Drinking water, toilets, chairs, and sofas are provided. Guishan Island is not big; it takes about an hour to circle it. There is the only service center at the entrance to replenish water. The whale and dolphin watching is also very professional, quickly reporting locations. We were lucky to see many of them.

The ticketing staff were professional and patient, and the crew on board were very friendly and responsible. The waves were a bit rough that day, and when passengers got seasick, the staff promptly assisted and continuously distributed plastic bags, which made everyone feel at ease. The explanations for boarding precautions and the guided tour of the scenery and history were very clear and interesting. For the whale and dolphin watching part, the captain of the Kavalan did not give up until the very last moment, and we were very lucky to spot the beautiful dolphins. We are very grateful for the efforts of all the staff on board who fulfilled our wish. The guided tour by the teacher on Guishan Island was also wonderful, and both adults and children had a great time.

We chose the dolphin watching and island landing tour. From Taipei, bus 1877 from Nangang was convenient. The bus didn't arrive on time, which made us a little anxious, but we arrived in less than an hour and a half. On this day, we were the only Japanese tourists, and since the guide only spoke Chinese, no one else seemed to be having trouble, but I thought it would be nice to have a simple pamphlet translated into Japanese. However, if you could understand Chinese, you would feel that the very kind guide explained everything in detail and politely, both on the boat and after landing. We were able to encounter a few dolphins and whales, which apparently hadn't been seen much recently, and it was an experience that aquariums can't offer. There's also a tour that goes to the island's summit in about three hours, so I'd like to come again when the weather isn't so hot.

We saw many dolphins, and the commentary on the boat was excellent. We learned a lot of interesting facts about Guishan Island, Yilan's history, and marine life. Thank you to the guide for the thoughtful tour!

Both the tour guide and the captain were super professional! They provided very detailed explanations, and every day they would use professional boats to search for whales and dolphins, trying their best to ensure everyone could see them. This time, we were incredibly lucky to see a whole pod of dolphins 🐬, which made us super happy 🥳

The itinerary for Guishan Island's 401 Highland, including the boat schedule, ascent and descent, and island hike, was perfectly arranged. The island's scenery is boundless, making it an unforgettable and rewarding experience!

Today's tour guide was Mr. Lin Dong-hai, and he's one of my favorite guides from all the day tours I've taken over the years. Because of his passion for natural ecology, he diligently shared his knowledge of Guishan Island and Yilan with every one of us travelers. He patiently answered all my questions about the ecosystem and cetaceans. More importantly, he maintained an optimistic and cheerful attitude throughout the entire four-hour trip. Although he didn't frequently preach any grand philosophies during the activity, he quietly taught me a valuable lesson: a day can be happy or unhappy, it just depends on how you choose to live it. P.S. Guide Lin's Guanyin Bodhisattva point was hilarious! XD
