The tour was amazing! We saw the Akaroa landscape and went kayaking in Flea Bay. We saw blue penguins and many seals in the bay, and finally, a penguin nest up on the cliff.
This trip was led by Kevin. On the way to Flea Bay, we had a brief stop to overlook Akaroa from a high vantage point, and Kevin introduced us to the local history and natural landscape, which was very interesting! The kayaking trip in Flea Bay was relaxed and enjoyable under Kevin's guidance. Along the way, we saw rich natural scenery, as well as penguins, seals, and various birds. It was excellent value for money!
Great kayak trip! Our guide, Kevin, was fantastic—truly passionate about sharing the history of Akaroa and the reserve. The trip was well arranged, and we were lucky to see both seals and penguins along the way.
Our guides, Ben and Maddie, were very patient and professional. They were highly knowledgeable about the area and explained all aspects of sea kayaking to us. We saw little penguin eggs and seals on rocks, plus the bonus of spotting Hector's dolphins. Make sure to bring a waterproof pouch to take pictures.
It was a very interesting activity. It was a very meaningful time as we got to see wildlife and hear various stories about Akaroa. To be honest, we were quite worried because we had never kayaked before. It would be a lie to say it wasn't tiring, but if you are a woman not used to rowing, it can be quite difficult, so be prepared 🤣😂. If two women come, it will be tough ㅠㅠ. One of the two should be a strong person, haha. Also, for those not fluent in English, listening might be difficult, but the guide was so kind that we had a fun and safe time. (+ A tip: make sure to bring a waterproof pouch to hang around your neck and take lots of photos! We came in a hurry and couldn't bring one, so we don't have many videos or photos from kayaking ㅠㅠ)
The activities were fulfilling, and the penguins and seals were adorable! The strait is beautiful – definitely worth visiting again. For those without a car, you can take the Akaroa day bus, which only runs once a day (you can buy tickets on the bus company's website or pay the driver cash). We were driven there by a friend and only took the bus for the return journey.
Canoeing offers participants an excellent opportunity to connect with nature. Paddling in a canoe allows you to admire picturesque lakes and mountains, the azure sea, or pleasant rivers. This intimate contact with nature brings a sense of tranquility, relaxation, and comfort, while also allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the natural environment.
Saw seals, super cute! It's an activity that requires some physical effort, and we also saw blue penguins. The scenery is incredibly beautiful, highly recommended! Worth it.
Had an amazing time and saw so many baby and adult fur seals! Kayaking is not really that challenging as the water is quite calm.
Amazing experience, we saw plenty of fur seals but sadly no penguins as it was not the right month for them. Highly recommended activity!
