Tour Guiado pela Fazenda de Alpacas Shamarra Akaroa

We booked the tour last minute as we were a bit hesitant that the farm is 1.5 hours away from Christchurch town. But we ended up booking and just decided to take their 11 am tour. Surprisingly, the alpacas don't have any foul smell and look like they are well taken care of. The activity is fun too, you will get to meet and touch the male alpacas first, then they will let you feed the female and newborns.

We had a great time at Shamarra alpacas! The guide and feeding experience was super well organised and fun. Highly recommended :) Just a note that the drive up to the farm is steep and windy. Most all cars will get up there; just take your time :)

This is absolutely a must-do in New Zealand! It's a very nice farm (and cold 🥶), so please wear warm clothing. The staff are amazingly great and knowledgeable about everything and anything to do with alpacas. They also provide hot tea and cookies, which I think are some of the best cookies I've ever tasted!

The environment is very beautiful, and the alpacas are well cared for. We booked a Chinese guided tour, and the staff were very enthusiastic and fun, and they also proactively helped us take photos. The entire experience, from the explanation to taking photos with the alpacas and feeding them, concluded with a choice of coffee, tea, or juice, along with a small cookie. The whole process takes about an hour. Because business is good, you can't stay and wander freely after it ends, as the next group of visitors will be coming in! Although the time is not long, it still feels very worthwhile. The alpacas have no smell at all, are very friendly, and super cute.

The tour was very informative and interactive, as we got to touch, hug, and feed the alpacas. There were many to interact with, so there were more than enough of them to go around.

We had such a wonderful time at this alpaca tour in New Zealand. The farm was beautiful and peaceful, and the alpacas were incredibly gentle and well cared for. One of the highlights was getting to feed the alpacas up close — they were friendly, curious, and absolutely adorable!

The farm is a great attraction that suits all ages. Alpacas are so cute to cuddle and pat. You can take awesome photos easily too.
