Excursão de 1 dia à cidade de água de Gubei, Pequim

The trip with guide Ian was fulfilling and fun. Since it was the Labor Day holiday, the bus was completely full, and there were many Korean groups. He explained in English and Chinese, so I concentrated as if taking a listening test and studied history. If you come to Beijing, you must take the Gubei Water Town tour. It's truly incredibly vast, unique, and every place is a photo opportunity. I was also surprised by how massive the Great Wall was when we went up by cable car. I was worried that I would only see the backs of people's heads due to the Labor Day holiday, but perhaps because it was raining and cold, there were actually very few people, which was even better. It's a place you can fully enjoy even without a Korean guide.

Christina is a very detailed and helpful guide. She explains everything in both English and Mandarin with clear instructions and even went to each family to check on their preferences for the itinerary. She also shared valuable knowledge on Chinese history. All in all, the trip was well executed and planned with minimal logistical delays. We are blessed to have Christina as our guide. Highly recommended.

Roberta, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable. She was very helpful and pleasant to communicate with. Since we had already toured the Great Wall in Mutianyu, we chose the Hotsprings on this package to relax our bodies after yesterday's hike. There was plenty of time to explore the Water Town during the day, and in the evening, the park lit up at 5:30 PM! An amazing 10-minute Fountain Show concluded the tour. I highly recommend this tour.

We had a hiccup at Guomao subway station trying to find the F exit gathering point. We ended up taking a DiDi to catch up at another meeting point. It was a free and easy tour once we reached Gubei Town. We strolled around the town, climbed up Gubei Church to see the sunset, and hiked Simatai Great Wall in the evening. The view was spectacular. It ended with a drone presentation.

100% recommended. The guide will explain in both English and Mandarin. The price does not include the boat from the entrance to the other side of the town for RMB 120, one way only. Also, if you want to use the cable car to the Great Wall Post 7, you need to pay RMB 150 for a round trip. I advise you to buy this because the views from Posts 5-8 are truly spectacular Great Wall sections. Although you can also walk or hike from the town to Post 2, then truly hike to at least Post 5 and then go down again. Just get the cable car, it's worth it. The guide will also sell water before drop-off; if you are not bringing enough water, especially when you are going to hike, buy it. The water in the town is truly double the price.

It is recommended to directly purchase the "Water Town Ticket + Tour Guide + Round-trip Transportation to and from the Ancient Town in the City + Day Trip to the Great Wall + Round-trip Cable Car" package. We originally bought the night tour of the Great Wall, but on the day of the tour, the guide informed us that the Great Wall opens for night tours at 6:00 PM, and everyone had to gather at 7:30 PM to watch the drone show. So, even if we took the cable car up to the Great Wall, there wouldn't be enough time to explore. Aside from this unexpected issue, the guide was excellent. Knowing that we had booked the night tour of the Great Wall, he actively helped us coordinate with the third party to resolve the situation. If there are elderly people, it is highly recommended to buy a round-trip cable car ticket for the Great Wall; it saves a lot of time and is less tiring. The ancient town and Simatai Great Wall are truly worth a visit and were my favorite parts of my entire Beijing trip. However, one day is actually enough. If you have limited time, you don't need to stay overnight; a same-day round trip is also feasible.

Highly recommended if you want to see the original Great Wall. Do note that the sides of the walkway are really low (lower than knee height), so stay safe ✌️

Destino turístico relajado, me alegro de haber reservado este tour con poca antelación. Sin embargo, este paquete no incluye la entrada a Simatai. ¡Podrían considerar añadirla en el futuro!

It was a nice day trip, but we felt we didn't have enough time to spend at the water town. By the time we started lunch, it was around 1 PM, and by the time we finished, it was almost 3 PM. It would have been better if we had started the day earlier than 9:30 AM, although we are grateful not to have to wake up too early, haha, quite conflicted. It was pretty cold while we waited for the sun to set on top of the tower (it was early April when we were there). It was also a rush up and down as we wanted to catch the water show. We didn't manage to wait until the end of the show and had to take the shuttle back to the square to catch our bus back. Note that the shuttle bus is a separate cost, 10 yuan each for children and adults alike. Also, the hot pot lunch is excluded, but you can buy it on the bus for 80 yuan per person (the photo shows the meal for 2 adults, so 160 yuan). There's also an add-on for a (half) boat ride (to the middle of town) for 80 yuan per adult and 40 yuan per child, but our guide refunded us as there was a queue.

Para evitar el viaje a Gubei y la Gran Muralla de Simatai, tomamos este tour para que todo saliera bien y así fue. A pesar de que no nos recogieron directamente en nuestra ubicación, fue fácil encontrar el punto de encuentro. La guía turística Lulu fue amable y hablaba un inglés comprensible. Nos guio bien y nos informó de las cosas que debíamos hacer para aprovechar al máximo nuestro viaje. El tour tiene una comida opcional de hotpot que puedes adquirir cuando Lulu lo mencione durante el viaje en autobús a la ciudad de Gubei. La experiencia fue buena y lo pasamos genial.
