10 out of 10 for value for money. I enjoyed the trip so much, it was very well organized, the Japanese tour guide and also the English one were really nice and helpful. The places they took us were amazing. You also get free time everywhere you go on this trip. I really recommend going on this trip, especially the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.
It was very smooth and the guide was very informative and patient. I loved the trip to Takayama, although it was a bit too short. Shirakawa-go was very pretty and it was worth walking up to the observatory to get a bird's-eye view. We didn't have good weather at Murodo as it was raining ice, so it was very cold. Otherwise, everything was considered very well planned. And both guides (Japanese and English) took good care of everyone.
Upon arriving at Kamikochi, the English-speaking guide thoroughly explained that Taisho Pond is a worthwhile place to visit, and that it takes about 70 minutes to walk from there to Kappa Bridge. This allowed me to confidently alight at Taisho Pond, walk to Kappa Bridge, and then board the large bus. This pristine area is well worth hiking, and the scenery is incredibly beautiful. The Snow Wall Walk on the following day is also highly recommended, as the snow wall is only open for hiking for two months out of the year. The Mantan Hotel where we stayed was very clean. A three-minute walk to the right from the main entrance leads to a Lawson convenience store, which is super convenient for buying food and drinks. Breakfast offers two set menus, Western and Japanese, but includes an all-you-can-eat selection of beverages, bread, and salad, which was absolutely delicious. My family and I had a wonderful two-day, one-night vacation.
It is a great tour to join, with professional tour guide Ms Tomo and the rest of her team! Although the weather was not good on the day of the Alpine route, we still made it to the snow wall.
The overall itinerary was smooth and well-paced. Each attraction had its unique charm. Both Japanese and English-speaking guides provided helpful tips, making it easy to manage time and enjoy what we liked within the limited schedule. On the first day, the weather was clear and bright, and the scenery in Takayama and Shirakawa-go was beautiful, with various shops lining the streets and alleys. Lunch and dinner were self-arranged, allowing for flexibility. We could also fully enjoy ourselves 😎. The guide reminded us of the meeting times. The second day's Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route was even more spectacular, with various modes of transport connecting us up the mountain. We even got to walk around a ski resort. The eel rice for lunch was delicious 😋. On the way back to Nagoya, two rest stops were arranged, which was very thoughtful.
The first day's experience in Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go was very special. Although it rained in Shirakawa-go and my shoes got wet, the snow scenery was magnificent. It even snowed on the way to the hotel. However, this also meant we couldn't go to Tateyama Kurobe the next day, which was a bit disappointing. The itinerary was changed to Kanazawa, where the cherry blossoms at Kenroku-en were beautiful. We had very fresh seafood at the seafood market for lunch, highly recommended! In the afternoon, Higashi Chaya District was a bit boring, with not many shops, mainly just walking along the cherry blossom streets. Throughout the trip, the tour guide was quite diligent in introducing and leading us to attractions, but only in English and Japanese, which made it harder for the elderly to understand. If we had been able to go to Tateyama Kurobe on this trip, it would have been perfect.
Due to the need to take various public transportation options at Tateyama Kurobe, having a tour guide makes it relatively easier. However, the downside is that it's a bit of a "duckling tour" (a rigid, group tour), offering no flexibility and shorter sightseeing times. By October, the autumn leaves at Tateyama had all fallen, and after October 15th, the Kurobe Dam was no longer discharging water, so the scenery wasn't particularly impressive, which was a bit disappointing. It's recommended to visit between April and June to see the snow corridor, as the scenery should be more spectacular then. Additionally, the tour guides were very responsible, doing their best to arrange and recommend delicious food, souvenirs, and attractions for us.
The tour guide was extremely meticulous and professional. They clearly explained each stop, provided times and locations, and the itinerary was very well arranged. It was a fantastic experience and well worth participating in.
The tour guide is very helpful and attentive! Highly recommended!
The tour guide was very hospitable, introducing us to various nearby attractions and recommending famous restaurants. When the journey was long, they would take us to rest stops so we could relax or buy snacks.
