Great 4.0
Convenient Transportation: It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the train station to the hotel, which is a walkable distance. Breakfast: Perhaps because the hotel can accommodate many guests, the restaurant has two separate areas with identical food selections, making it convenient for guests. The variety of food is similar to what you'd find in typical three- or four-star hotels in Europe. Cleanliness: The room's cleanliness was acceptable. The bathroom was a bit small, but it clearly looked recently renovated and very clean. I'm not sure if the room had air conditioning, as I couldn't find a switch or remote. However, during my two-night stay, perhaps because the evening temperatures in the UK are still a bit cool, the room never felt stuffy.

Great 4.0
12 minute walk from King’s Cross station although it felt like a lifetime in this heatwave. Hotel doesn’t have air conditioning but they did provide a fan. Breakfast was ok, but no fried eggs but a ton of scrambled instead. Sausages weren’t the best and stay away from the orange juice, very weak. Apple juice was good though.

Fantastic 5.0
Although the lights weren't working upon check-in, the maintenance department followed up very quickly. Later, the circuit breaker tripped, which I believe is a local UK power load issue. Overall, the air conditioning was sufficient, it was clean, there was no musty smell, and the staff were proactive and enthusiastic.

Rooms and Facilities: The rooms are elegantly decorated, spacious, and bright, with picturesque views from the windows.

More about London hotels

Staying in London: what to expect

Staying in London shows a wide price spread between the most affordable and the most premium hotels — roughly a fivefold difference from bottom to top — so your nightly bill can vary a lot depending on class. The best balance of cost and comfort tends to be the premium tier, which offers noticeably more value than the lower tiers without reaching luxury price levels.

How hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy rooms sit at the lowest end and are the most budget-friendly option, suitable for travellers prioritising price over extras. Standard rooms step up from economy and offer a modest upgrade in comfort for a small additional cost. The premium tier delivers the best value point in the market and is where many travellers find a comfortable balance between price and quality. The biggest price jump comes when moving from premium to luxury, so choosing to go luxury is the main decision that sharply increases nightly rates.

When travellers from the United States usually book

For travellers from the United States, the priciest month is December and the cheapest month is February; February is the best option for a budget-led trip because rates are notably lower than in December. Rooms here are typically booked about a month in advance, and that tendency to reserve earlier increases in the priciest month.
