Great 4.0
Convenient Transportation: It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the train station to the hotel, which is a walkable distance. Breakfast: Perhaps because the hotel can accommodate many guests, the restaurant has two separate areas with identical food selections, making it convenient for guests. The variety of food is similar to what you'd find in typical three- or four-star hotels in Europe. Cleanliness: The room's cleanliness was acceptable. The bathroom was a bit small, but it clearly looked recently renovated and very clean. I'm not sure if the room had air conditioning, as I couldn't find a switch or remote. However, during my two-night stay, perhaps because the evening temperatures in the UK are still a bit cool, the room never felt stuffy.

Great 4.0
12 minute walk from King’s Cross station although it felt like a lifetime in this heatwave. Hotel doesn’t have air conditioning but they did provide a fan. Breakfast was ok, but no fried eggs but a ton of scrambled instead. Sausages weren’t the best and stay away from the orange juice, very weak. Apple juice was good though.

Fantastic 5.0
Although the lights weren't working upon check-in, the maintenance department followed up very quickly. Later, the circuit breaker tripped, which I believe is a local UK power load issue. Overall, the air conditioning was sufficient, it was clean, there was no musty smell, and the staff were proactive and enthusiastic.

Rooms and Facilities: The rooms are elegantly decorated, spacious, and bright, with picturesque views from the windows.

More about London hotels

Staying in London: range and sweet spot

Staying in London shows a wide price spread — the most premium rooms typically run a little over five times the cost of the most affordable options, so you can stretch from budget to truly high-end stays. The best value for most travellers tends to be the premium tier, which balances comfort and cost without reaching luxury prices.

How hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy rooms sit at the entry level and are the cheapest option relative to the others, suited to travellers prioritising low cost. Standard rooms step up modestly in comfort and price from economy, appealing to those who want basic extra conveniences without a large spend. Premium rooms represent the best-value midpoint and are the most compelling choice for travellers who want a noticeable upgrade in comfort while keeping budgets reasonable. The biggest decision point is the jump from premium to luxury — moving into luxury is a major price increase and typically suits travellers seeking high-end experiences and willing to pay substantially more.

When travellers from Australia usually book

Rates peak in December and hit their low in February, with February typically about 40% cheaper than the priciest month, so a budget-led trip is best planned for February. Travellers from Australia generally book around a month ahead, with many locking in rooms about 31 days before arrival; if you need extra certainty in the busiest pricing period, consider booking earlier toward the longer lead times mentioned in past bookings.
