Reviews
We had a great time at Taipingshan National Forest and Jioujhihze Hot Spring. Jerry 568 is very friendly and accommodating. He talked about interesting history about the park and Yilan county. Highly recommended tour!
we were 2 people joined to another group of 4. it was good ride, itinerary was good. Going up the mountain has too many bends so prepare yourself mentally if you get easily car sick. Train was not running on the day we went, so check on train schedule if you want to catch that. I think it is magical to ride the train during misty/foggy time, but can be very hot during sunny hours. When we arrived it was sunny, forest is short walk with nice few fay trap looking trees and mossy patches. As we were about to leave, it got misty, and was magical ride down the mountain.
My photographer, tour guide also my driver Papa Bear (Mr Hsieh). He is a knowledgeable and friendly person. His positive attitude, professional and courtesy make our trip very fruitful. He plays good 80s songs for us along the day trip in the car Taipingshan is a serene and peaceful place to visit but sadly is too short of time to be there due to the distance from Taipei. I would strongly recommended travel thru Yilan directly from Klook Jancing Trail and the sea of cloud from Taipingshan are amazing and my favorite of all. Jiuzhize hot springs onsen and cooking eggs or corns are something memorable too We
We booked the private tour and it was amazing. The views were gorgeous. Our guide Joanna Lin was so incredibly sweet and knowledgeable. She informed us that she's actually a local of the area, it was exciting to learn from a local. She gave adequate time for us to explore and even did a few extra and beyond things like getting us Yilan green onion cake on the way back. If I could give her more than 5 stars I would. My friend and I were incredibly impressed. If we ever do a tour in the area again I would definitely request her again.
We booked a private tour and it was worth it. Joanna Lin was an excellent guide-driver. She was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and very happy to accommodate our pacings. The drive up Taipingshan Forest Reserve was skilfully accomplished. The views were spectacular and the air was clear & pristine. The only drawback we had was the size of the car, we were 4 fairly tall adults and the car (Toyota Wish) was a bit of a squeeze. This is a private tour for a minimum of 2 so we wrongly assumed that with 4, we would get a larger car. Especially as the journey was quite long, around 3-hour one way. This is not a comment of Ms Lin’s skill as guide-driver, which as I mentioned above, was superb.
This time, we opted for a private tour. Although it was raining that day, the Jianqing Historic Trail was very comfortable and wonderful to walk on in the rain. Our driver and guide, Sister Lin Su-chen, was very nice. On the way, she shared many interesting stories about Yilan's history and enthusiastically recommended local favorite snack shops. She even went back to help me find my thermos that I carelessly left in a store (many thanks)! Highly recommended!
All the sceneries and the tour itself is really beautiful. Yilan is really amazing. Also, the tourguide Ms. Joanna is really accommodating!
Had a great day! Joanna was a great guide and was very caring to our whole group. The itinerary was great and we had a fantastic time 👍
this is a great trip and Joanna was a fabulous guide. She was chatting all the way through the drive up to Taipingshan and telling us all about the things on the way. This tour is not very known to foreign tourists.
To get straight to the point, it was a perfect trip. We prefer exploring nature over city trips, so after looking around, we chose this tour, and we were so satisfied that I'm leaving a review for other Koreans to reference later. The xiaolongbao and Chinese omelet suggested for breakfast were really delicious, and thanks to that, we were able to start the tour feeling full. We were worried about not bringing raincoats because it was raining, but thanks to the guide's preparedness, we toured comfortably without getting wet. The mountain road was very winding, but he drove so well that it wasn't tiring at all, and the explanations he gave during the commute were informative. You don't have to worry about communication because English is sufficient. The day we visited happened to be a day when local tourists flocked, but he departed ahead of the tour buses with great sense, so we were able to tour in a relaxed manner. The best place was the ancient trail, and I really urge you to go. The fog was thick, making the mountain so beautiful and feeling like you've entered another world. We chose the private course, so we were able to customize the tour as we wanted: [Bongbong Train - Trekking - Meal - Ancient Railroad - Hot Springs]. Since there were no other people in our group, we quickly toured the places that could be seen quickly, and since we had plenty of time, we also stopped by Luodong, which the guide suggested, and returned to Taipei. The guide took us to a few local restaurants, waited for us while we ate, and even picked us up. Real local 맛집 인정! It was so delicious!! At the end, I brought back the scallion pancake to the hotel and ate it as a snack with beer haha. Thanks to the kind guide, we had a very happy and enjoyable day trip. Honestly, there's a 100,000 won difference between the join tour and the private tour, but it wasn't a waste at all. Highly recommend the private tour!!
