2026 9th Taipei Illustration Fair: "So what if the drawing isn't good?" 9th Taipei Illustration Fair
- The Taipei Illustration Arts Festival is dedicated to connecting local Taiwanese and international illustration art, creating a grand event that belongs to the city of Taipei, local Taiwan, and the world.
- The 9th Taipei Illustration Arts Festival in 2026 lifts the burden for everyone with its core question: "So what if you can't draw well?" This year's festival aims to break the spell of perfectionism constructed by a mindset of comparison. We believe the essence of illustration is to convey ideas, emotions, and personal joy, and its value should never be defined by a single academic standard. We encourage all creators to shift their focus from perfectly polished "technique" to the most authentic emotional "expression."
- Over a hundred uniquely styled participating creators will present different creative styles and content at their respective booths, showcasing their true selves through illustration and taking you on a visual journey beyond imagination to explore the creative world hidden between life and work.
- Artists from more than 13 countries and regions—including the United Kingdom, Japan, China, the United States, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Indonesia, France, Macau, and local Taiwan—will engage in cultural and artistic exchanges, sparking diverse inspiration.

Event Introduction |
In this era dominated by social media, picking up a pen or brush has become a source of immense pressure. We are too easily accustomed to living under the various flawless filters of the digital world. Standards of "refinement" and "perfection" fill us with anxiety about our own work, fearing that we are not drawing well enough or professionally enough, causing many to silently lay down their passion for creation.
The 2026 9th Taipei Illustration Fair lifts the burden from everyone with its core question: "So what if you don't draw well?" This year's goal for the art festival is to break the spell of perfectionism constructed by a culture of comparison. We believe that the essence of illustration is to convey ideas, emotions, and personal joy; its value should never be defined by a single academic standard. We encourage all creators to shift their focus from impeccable, pretty "technique" to the most authentic "expression" of emotion. We affirm every effort and mindset dedicated to creation: If you view creation as a joyful thing, please dive into it with peace of mind, drawing according to your own ideas, and improvement will be the natural reward after enjoying the process. Embrace those imprecise imperfections full of personal style, for those are your unique imprint. At the same time, please hold firm to your determination. Through the continuous accumulation of experience and trying, goals and achievements will eventually be realized.
The 2026 9th Taipei Illustration Fair encourages a liberating form of creation. We welcome all beginners, as well as works that are experimental, unfinished, or even carry a bit of a mischievous spirit. Because on the stage of the art festival, the most precious things are the truth and freedom displayed by the creator. "So what if you don't draw well?" As long as you pick up the pen, you have already found an outlet for your inner voice. We look forward to participating in this sincere creative liberation with everyone who bravely begins.
In this era dominated by social media, picking up a pen or brush has become a source of immense pressure. We are constantly exposed to the digital world's flawless filters, where standards of "refinement" and "perfection" fuel our anxiety. Many fear their work is not "good enough" or "professional enough," causing them to silently abandon their creative passion.
The 2026 9th Taipei Illustration Fair addresses this head-on with a core question: " Draw, Draw, Draw Anyway! Not Perfect? It's Okay! " This powerful inquiry aims to alleviate the burden on every creator. Our goal this year is to shatter the spell of perfectionism cast by comparison culture. We believe the essence of illustration lies in conveying ideas, emotions, and personal joy; its value should never be confined by a single academic standard. We encourage all creators to shift their focus from impeccable "technique" to the most authentic "expression" of their feelings. We celebrate every mindset dedicated to creation: If you view the act of creating as a source of joy, we urge you to fully immerse yourself. Follow your own ideas, and improvement will be the natural reward of your enjoyment. Embrace the imprecise, the imperfect, and the highly personal style—for those are the unique marks of your identity. At the same time, please stand firm in your resolve. Through continuous experience and persistent effort, you will always find a way to realize your own success.
The 2026 9th Taipei Illustration Fair promotes a movement of "Creative Liberation." We welcome all beginners, along with works that are experimental, unfinished, or even embody a spirit of playful absurdity. Because on this stage, the most precious things are the truth and freedom exhibited by the creator. " Not Perfect? It's Okay!" As long as you pick up the pen, you have found an outlet for your inner voice. We look forward to celebrating this sincere creative liberation with everyone who dares to begin.

About Taipei Illustration Fair |
"Illustration" is an artistic expression combining artistic creation and text, non-verbal and verbal, possessing the communicative nature of "narrating" internal thoughts.
"Taipei Illustration Fair" pioneers an illustration art exhibition belonging to the city of Taipei, local Taiwan, and international connections. Through annual themed curated open calls, it solicits works from domestic and foreign illustration creators for exhibition, and designs reward systems to encourage and foster illustration creation. This illustration art festival belonging to the city of Taipei has become a regular, recurring grand event, gathering outstanding local illustrators to jointly gain exposure and concentrate illustration benefits, promoting the healthy, circular development of the illustration art industry, and letting "illustration be more than just illustration."
