Tainan Art Museum | A Cultural Landmark Blending History and Modern Aesthetics
Located in the core cultural area of Tainan, the "Tainan Art Museum" consists of Building 1 and Building 2, an art palace that combines historical architecture and contemporary design. Building 1 was originally the Tainan Police Department, completed in 1931. It adopts the Art Déco style and is one of the few well-preserved Japanese-era buildings. Building 2 was designed by the Pritzker Architecture Prize-winning Shigeru Ban Architects. The exterior inspiration comes from the city flower, the phoenix flower, showcasing Tainan's urban landscape of blending old and new.
The museum has a total of 26 exhibition rooms, a children's art center, an interdisciplinary performance hall, a light dining area, and a souvenir shop. The exhibition content covers important local and international contemporary art and plans rich educational activities and family-friendly facilities. It is an excellent place to explore Tainan's art and culture in depth.

This is the third time to visit the South American Pavilion. It coincides with the schedule of Hell and Ghost. I made an appointment to enter the venue, but I still couldn’t get a comfortable viewing experience. There were too many people. I don't care so much. I am deeply sorry that such a large number of people have greatly damaged the quality of the experience. In South America as a whole, the museums are beautiful, but the utilization rate is low, the circulation is chaotic, the public area is vast, the exhibition space is small, the entrance and exit are not clear, and the flow of people will be blocked in specific places. The positioning of the space is not very clear. The crowds and orientations it attracts are aimed at catering to the public, or emphasizing the promotion of arts and culture. Currently, the ticket prices for exhibitions are expensive, and a large number of visitors come for one or two exhibitions. Is it difficult to fulfill the mission of the art museum to promote the development of local arts and culture and education promotion if it is kidnapped by ticket prices and crowds? Is it a serious negative impact on the sustainable management of the local area if it becomes a tourist attraction that caters to the public's evaluation and goes shopping in air-conditioning? In most public art and cultural venues, there will be a public hinterland on the first floor of the lobby to accommodate and digest crowds, allowing the public to experience the space of the exhibition hall. Such a hinterland can effectively distinguish the exhibition audience. However, South America is controlled from the entrance. It is true that due to the large number of people, it will cause inconvenience for management, but at the same time, it can be considered that the space in the South American Pavilion is huge, and there are still many idle spaces on the second and third floors. The sun's approach is unique and debatable. I look forward to the better and better art space in Taiwan.
Excellent - Gives Access to 2 Buildings, With Lots of Art Galleries, featuring artists from Taiwan, Japan, Nepal and more. Had a wonderful time here 😇
It is super convenient to buy and use at any time👌🏻 Open the electronic ticket directly, go to the counter and ask the staff to scan it to enter the venue~ This is the first time I came to the second hall of Tainan Art Museum. The most important ones are local artists in Taiwan. The names that were often seen in art textbooks suddenly became vivid and lifelike, as if watching several biographical movies. The artistic style and spirit that reflect the background of the times and integrate local elements are also very amazing!
It is a beautiful art museum with good lighting. The large broken roof simulates the shadow effect of trees. When the sun shines on it, it produces the effect of light penetrating through the shade of trees. It is very beautiful. The exhibition has rich works and is very thoughtful. I saw the works of architect Chen Qikuan and curator Huang Cailang this time and I really like them. We stayed in Hall 2 for two hours. If time permits, we will also visit a nearby hall next time to enrich our visit.
The art museums are very spacious and full of interesting galleries. If you are an art lover, you would easily spend a whole day here.
Wonderful place to visit on a rainy day! Artworks were interesting and thought-provoking.
Buy your tickets in advance on klook and just use the QR code at the door to enter. Tickets can also go to the Art Gallery 1 and 2, both have their own characteristics, one is renovated from historical monuments, the second has a modern beauty, both are worth going 👍👍
I remember that the museum had just opened when I came here last time. It has been six years now, and the environment is very well maintained! The building is really beautiful. It's very relaxing to visit it on holidays. The parking lot in the basement is very convenient (I ride a motorcycle). It costs 10 yuan per time. There are other attractions around it that you can walk to. It's very happy. 💜
You can use QR Code to enter the museum easily, without any hassle, convenient, fast, save time, tickets can be purchased easily and inexpensively.
I like "Art is the power of freedom". It is very interesting, there are not many people, and it is a great viewing experience. My favorite exhibition in Taiwan recently, it shows more about the style and form of creation. I always spend a lot of money at Japanese art museum stores, but Taiwan is still relatively weak in terms of products.
