What to expect
【Cape Kamui, Shakotan Peninsula】 Cape Kamui, located on Hokkaido’s Shakotan Peninsula, is a central attraction of the Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Kaigan Quasi-National Park. It is famous for its 80-meter-high cliffs, 300-degree ocean views, and the clear “Shakotan Blue” waters. Walking along the 770-meter trail, visitors can admire Kamui Rock and the lighthouse. This place is steeped in the tragic love legend of an Ainu maiden who committed suicide for love, and historically, it was a forbidden area for women, showcasing its desolate and magnificent beauty. 【Yoichi Distillery】 The world’s only whisky distillery that still uses direct coal-fired distillation, known for its unique craftsmanship, rich flavor, and smoky notes. It uses “virgin casks” (brand new oak barrels) for maturation, adding a distinctive flavor. 【Otaru Canal】 A landmark attraction in Otaru, famous for the movie “Love Letter.” Its scenery varies with the seasons, with winter being particularly romantic. The kerosene lamps and red brick warehouses along the canal create a strong artistic atmosphere, attracting many artists to stop and create. 【Kitaichi Glass Otaru】 A famous and historic glass product brand in Otaru. Kitaichi Glass No. 3 Building, converted from a Meiji-era warehouse, is one of the largest and most popular stores. 【Shimamui Coast】 Located on Hokkaido’s Shakotan Peninsula in Japan, it is a stunning coastline renowned for its crystal-clear “Shakotan Blue” waters and spectacular cliff scenery. It was once selected as one of “Japan’s 100 Best Coasts.” 【Ogon Cape】 A cape park located on the Shakotan Peninsula, famous for its magnificent cliffs and clear “Shakotan Blue” ocean views. Unlike Cape Kamui, it is less crowded, offering a sense of tranquility and purity, making it an excellent spot to enjoy the sunset over the Sea of Japan and heart-shaped rocks.

Reviews
Friendly and helpful guide who managed a multilingual group well. Clear logistics, smooth scheduling, and useful Sapporo food recommendations. Independent tour style with plenty of time to explore.
Great way to experience Hokkaido Summer.
The scenery is top-tier in Hokkaido, and our tour guide, Xiaoma, was very professional and nice. The entire day trip was very enjoyable. Wishing everyone a safe journey!
Had a great time! Our tour guide BC took very good care of us. She was very energetic, friendly and helpful the whole time.
I chose this tour because it didn't include a stop at Shiroi Koibito Park, which is often part of tours to Shakotan. Instead, I got to see the beautiful Ogon Misaki (Golden Cape) and fully enjoy nature, which was great. The weather was good, and the Shakotan Blue sea I wanted to see was magnificent. The tour guide, Mr./Ms. Cai, sent an email the day before with the vehicle and flag numbers, which was reassuring as I could go directly to the meeting point without getting lost (on other tours, I haven't received detailed contact information and felt anxious when I couldn't find the guide at the meeting spot). I believe it was stated that the tour guide would not provide commentary, but they gave detailed explanations in English, Chinese, and Japanese, which was excellent. I think this tour offers great value for money.
When you book on Klook, you'll receive the license plate number and the tour leader's phone number before 4 PM the day before departure. You can choose to contact them via WhatsApp or Line. We departed on July 2nd, and the tour leader, Xiao Li, reminded us to take care of ourselves in the 38-degree heat, stay hydrated, and carefully assisted us when getting on and off the bus. I especially appreciated the very strong air conditioning on the tour bus. If you're not driving, transportation to these two locations is very inconvenient, so I recommend taking a day trip.
Rick was a fantastic guide. he contacted us beforehand to confirm the pick up, provided interesting commentary throughout the trip in English, Chinese and Japanese and kept us on schedule throughout the day. A great day out!
The entire day was overcast and rainy, and the Cape Kamui trail was closed. The tour guide said company policy prevented itinerary changes, but there should have been some flexibility. With Cape Kamui closed, they should have adjusted the schedule by taking an hour from there and adding it to Otaru. Also, the tour guide was inexperienced and didn't even know where the restrooms were. We had to find them ourselves after getting off the bus, which wasted time. Experience makes a difference. Overall, this wasn't a great experience.
Groups of 7 people can also form a tour, the driver is punctual, and there is sufficient time for activities.
Joining the one-day tour from Klook is convenient and covers many attractions. Highly recommended! The tour guide is friendly and helps with taking photos.
