The hotel is new, clean, and fully equipped. It's super close to the train station and includes free breakfast! The price is also very affordable. I would definitely stay here again.

This tour was great! I had an originally wanted to book another tour that had English speaking guide, but the dates didn’t work out, so I went with this tour. The tour guides were great, especially Haruna and the bus driver was very skilled and friendly. They used a translator to give me information and allowed me to practice my poor Japanese speaking skills on them. They were very attentive because I was travelling alone. The boat ride was included in the price but sand museum is not. A lot of time was given to eat and explore the sand dunes, which was great. Arrival time back in Osaka ended up being 19:30. There was some delay with traffic but I think the trip description should be updated to reflect closer to 19:15 arrival. Also my lunch was altered to include more seafood since I don’t eat meat.

It's super convenient! Just show the QR code to enter attractions and use it for payments when shopping. If you use it a lot, it's a great value.

The dunes are spectacular, and the museum is excellent. It's highly recommended to visit, although it's a bit of a drive. The Japanese tour leader was also very friendly.

I haven't traveled yet, but I'm required to leave a review before September 17th... The main reason was to buy the JR Pass. Although I'm going to Tottori, this Tottori tour pass isn't very useful, so I've already given it to someone else.

Hotel Location: Arrived late and the parking lot was full, but the hotel still helped provide two parking spaces. Parking fee is 500/night. Breakfast includes hand-held sushi, which is convenient for guests to grab and go in the morning - a very thoughtful touch.

What to know about Tottori Sand Dunes

Tottori Sand Dunes is Japan's largest dunes near Tottori City on the Sea of Japan coast. These massive Tottori Dunes pull in over 1.3 million visitors yearly and offer a stunning starting point to explore this undiscovered prefecture. Formed over thousands of years, these dunes were sculpted by sand from the Sendai River, nearby Chugoku mountains, being carried out to sea and then brought back to the heavily wooden northern coast by ocean currents. Today, the ever-changing landscape is continuously shaped by coastal winds and tides, making every visit a unique experience. Hop on a camel for a relaxed ride in the Japanese desert, or take the chairlift to the Sakyu Center's observation deck for a top-notch coastal view. Don't forget to swing by the Tottori Sand Dunes Visitor Center for insights into the geology and ecology of this remarkable spot.
