Our day tour was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. The visit to the zoo was a wonderful way to start the day. Seeing the animals in a snowy setting felt unique and magical, especially watching them move and play in the winter environment. It was peaceful walking around the park while snow covered the trees and paths. After that, the snowmobile activity was incredibly exciting. Riding across the wide snowy fields was both thrilling and scenic. The feeling of speed combined with the beautiful white landscape made it unforgettable, and the guides were helpful and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable.

Many thanks to our tour guide, Jenny, for leading us on this action-packed day trip. Jenny is not only beautiful and sweet-voiced, but also fluent in many languages—truly impressive! She meticulously explained each part of the itinerary and even helped us capture many photos, leaving us with wonderful memories. We are truly grateful. ☺️

Our tour guide, Mr. Oliver Hu Hai, was very humorous, and his tour leading style was excellent, according to all of us in the group. We hope to join another one-day tour led by Mr. Hu Hai next time.

The itinerary was decent, but I wish we could have spent more time at some of the attractions. I highly recommend this day tour for anyone traveling to Japan independently who isn't sure where to go. I had a wonderful time on the trip, and our guide, Lucy, was very enthusiastic and took great care of everyone!

This tour is by far the one I loved the most! It was very productive since we were able to go to all the places listed in the itinerary. Our guide was Baku. and he was so cool! He shared a lot of things about Sapporo, Biei, and Hokkaido as a whole. He gave us a lot of local restaurants to try, too.

This was my first overseas trip with my mom, making it even more special and precious. Thanks to our guide, Seonmin, who beautifully explained the trip and took wonderful photos, those memories are now even more cherished. The Biei tour itinerary was incredibly rich and featured amazing places, making the journey fascinating and fun. Our guide didn't just show us the sights; they also shared a variety of useful information and stories about Japan, making the time fly by! What truly stood out was when I personally lost an item the day before. I cautiously asked if they could make a call for me, and they went above and beyond, even calling the lost and found office themselves, helping me track down my lost item. I felt genuinely cared for as a traveler, and I was incredibly grateful and touched! Thanks to them, my first trip with my mom became an even warmer and happier memory. If I ever come back to Japan, I would definitely love to travel with this guide again. Thank you so much for creating such wonderful memories!🙏🏻

Experience the breathtaking beauty of Shikisai no Oka in Biei-cho, Kamikawa-gun, Hokkaido. This vast park, translating to “Hill of Seasonal Colors,” is renowned for its panoramic flower gardens set against the stunning backdrop of the Tokachi Mountain Range. With over 30 kinds of colorful flowers blooming in succession from spring through early October, it’s one of Hokkaido’s most iconic sightseeing spots.

What to know about Shikisai no oka

Location: Biei-cho, Kamikawa-gun, Hokkaido
Best Visiting Season: Late April to early October (flower season), June to September (peak variety of blooms), and early May to late June for colorful tulips. In late June, Japanese anemone and salvia begin to paint the fields. Visitors in fall can also enjoy the warm autumn colors before the snow season begins.
Snow Season: From December to March, the park transforms into a winter wonderland where visitors can try snow rafting and other snow activities.
Entrance Fee: A small admission fee applies, and tickets can be purchased at the ticket counter near the main entrance. Some areas are open for free strolls, but certain attractions may require tickets.

Things To Do At Shikisai no Oka

See colourful flower blooms

From late April to early October, the striped flower fields begin to bloom in vibrant patterns across the rolling hills. Visitors can wander through many different kind of flowers in full-bloom tulips in spring, colorful marigolds and poppies in summer, and lavender fields in mid-July. By late June, you can also enjoy salvia and spot delicate Japanese anemones among the variety of flowers.

With its vast size of 150,000 square meters, the park offers endless opportunities to take stunning photographs of the picturesque landscapes.

Explore the White Birch Garden

For a serene atmosphere, visit the White Birch Garden, where elegant white birch trees line the walkways. This peaceful area offers striking photo spots with flower fields and mountain ranges in the background.

Ride the Norokko Tractor Bus

Take a leisurely ride on the Norokko Tractor Bus to see the panoramic fields without too much walking. This option is perfect for families with small children, junior high school students on school trips, or elderly visitors.

Visit the Alpaca Farm

Meet and interact with fluffy alpacas at the on-site alpaca ranch. Visitors can pet, feed, and snap pictures with these adorable animals, making it a family-friendly highlight. Alpaca wool goods are also available for purchase.
