I forgot that my first tickets were for two people and had been canceled, so no matter how many times I scanned them at the machine, they wouldn't work! My Japanese sister took me to the service counter to ask for help, and thankfully, they printed physical tickets for me 😄. The service counters in Japan are really great; they get everything done in one go 👍, and I was able to get on the train without any problems. I think this experience reminded me that I have to delete canceled tickets so I don't waste too much time messing around in front of the machine!

Due to my own carelessness, I wasn't able to exchange the tickets successfully because I scanned a QR code that had already been canceled. Thankfully, with the help of a friend, everything was completed smoothly, and I finally got the physical tickets sorted out.

My husband & I had a great & wonderful experience with Kyoto & Nara tour. The Arashiyama itinerary places like the bamboo forest & gardens were beautiful. The Sebon Torii is also a great place to see. Thanks to our Tour guide Cristine & Mr. Choi who were both great, pleasing, accommodating & very knowledgeable of the places we’ve been through.

I had an amazing time with my friends on our trip to Kyoto and Nara. We visited all the famous spots, and let me tell you, the kobe beef hot pot was to die for! It was absolutely delicious. We had a great time exploring these beautiful cities. Our tour guide, Harry, was fantastic. He was super knowledgeable and really took care of us. He explained the itinerary in detail, gave us some great tips on the area, and was always there to take photos for us. He’s a true gem and made our trip even better. If you’re looking for a great day tour to Kyoto and Nara from Osaka. I highly recommend it!

The hotel's exterior design is modern, and the front desk staff is very helpful. The lobby gives the impression of being more than just a 3-star hotel; it has 4-star quality! The rooms are very spacious, providing an overall comfortable feeling. The bathroom design is pleasant and has ample space. I initially thought there were no personal toiletries, but they were cleverly stored! Highly recommended!

Nara Deer Park

Nara City is synonymous with its famous deer, and the Nara Deer Park is where you'll find over 1,000 of these surprisingly tame creatures. Considered sacred messengers of the gods in Japanese legends, these deer are a major draw. Deer feeding is a popular activity, and you can purchase special deer crackers made from rice bran and wheat flour all around the park.

While the deer are incredibly friendly, it's essential to approach them calmly and follow park rules to ensure everyone's safety. During your short walk through the park, you'll find them almost everywhere, a testament to their presence being considered sacred. This unique interaction with local wildlife makes Nara Park a truly special experience and a significant natural treasure.

Todaiji Temple

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Todaiji Temple is undeniably one of the most famous spots in Nara Park. It boasts the Great Buddha Hall, which was once the largest wooden building in the world. Inside, you'll encounter a colossal bronze Buddha statue, standing over 50 feet tall.

Beyond the main hall, there are beautiful gardens and smaller shrines to explore, each contributing to the temple's profound historical and spiritual atmosphere. Do note that there is an entrance fee to access the Great Buddha Hall.

Isuien Garden

For a serene escape, Isuien Garden, a traditional Japanese garden located near Nara Park, is a must-visit. It features quaint tea houses, tranquil ponds, a small museum, and an abundance of meticulously maintained trees and flowers. Tips for Visiting Nara Park

Respect Nara's Deer

The bowing deer in Nara Park are famous for their friendliness and willingness to approach visitors for a treat. However, it's crucial to remember that they are still wild animals. During mating season, some male deer can become aggressive, so maintaining a calm demeanor and moving slowly around them is essential. Always show respect to the deer to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Dress Comfortably

Nara Park is expansive, and you'll want to explore as much as you can. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing that allows for easy movement, as you'll be traversing many walking paths leading to interesting spots like shrines and temples. On hot days, a hat and sufficient water will help you stay cool and energized during your exploration.

Plan Your Nara Park Visit

Before heading to Nara Park, it's wise to check for any special events. A unique spectacle to catch is the 'deer calling' or "shikayose," where you can witness the deer gather when a horn is blown. This event typically occurs on winter mornings at 10 AM from February to mid-March and on Sundays during the summer.

Easily accessible via the Kintetsu Nara Line, Nara Park is a perfect destination for a day trip, especially during the cherry blossoms season when the park transforms into a vibrant spectacle. Be sure to check the opening hours of individual attractions within the park to plan your itinerary effectively for your Nara home away from home.
