Transport in Hokkaido

Rail pass is easy to use. For reserved seat it easy to book/change timing thru ticketing machine or thru ticketing counter during operating hours. You may obtain the JR timetable from the JR counter.

A rail pass allows you to travel throughout the regions of Japan. You can reserve your seat in advance before your travel date, allowing you to travel according to your plan. It's easy to redeem, delivered to your home, and you can exchange the exchange order at the airport immediately. It's convenient, fast, and problem-free.

Exchanging the ticket at the JR information counter was easy. The staff provided excellent recommendations and helped with seat reservations. They even spoke some Thai. It's a shame this JR pass can't be used on JR buses, so I had to pay over 1,000 baht per person for the round trip from Aomori Station to Lake Towada. Coverage area: Covers as specified, except for JR buses.

Purchasing tickets on the Klook platform is very convenient. You can exchange tickets and reserve seats at the JR New Chitose Airport. If you plan to visit Noboribetsu and Otaru, this pass is definitely worth the price. Highly recommended!

Since it's the off-season, flights from China arrive at the New Chitose Airport domestic terminal. Be aware that a section in between requires you to exit the building. Thankfully, I asked at the information window on the 1st floor (the staff member there spoke Chinese). You need to exit and then find counter #2; a staff member will be there (the blacked-out area in the official website's picture indicates where you can't walk through). For the return trip, there weren't any staff at the hotel, so I asked the hotel staff. They said to just wait for the bus at the entrance. Overall, it was good. Both drivers on the outbound and return trips drove very safely, and there was even a rest stop once.

At first, we were quite worried as no confirmation email has been received from the provider. hence, we contacted Klook CS for help and finally received the contact from the driver the day before the trip. The driver Peter is nice and even arrived in hotel earlier to wait us. He provided good recommendations to the spots and restaurants. When travelling to the Tomita Garden, he even drove us to a spot to have a toilet break. quite considerate. He also lend us umbrella for us to take pics and visit the spots. When returning to Sapporo, he was helpful and flexible and willing to drive us to the Torridon, a local sushi shop, instead of the original Sapporo station.

We had an amazing experience touring Mt. Fuji with David! He was incredibly friendly and kind from the moment he picked us up, and he made the entire day feel relaxed and enjoyable. He created a great itinerary to maximize our day trip and his knowledge of all the best viewpoints and spots around the mountain was very appreciated. We felt well-taken care of the whole time, and the photos we got were unbelievable. Highly recommend touring with David!

I bought this 6-day Tohoku-South Hokkaido Rail Pass to explore Hokkaido, and it paid for itself with just the round trip from Tokyo to Hakodate, so it's very useful. However, be aware that this pass offers different benefits compared to the 5-day JR East Pass; this 6-day pass doesn't include JR buses. As a result, we had to pay extra for the highway buses from Morioka to Miyako and from Kuji to Ninohe, which wasn't cheap.
