Kyushu: Mount Aso Crater, Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine & Takachiho Gorge Day Tour (Departing from Fukuoka)

We met at 7:50 AM. Our guide for the day was Xiao Chen, and we're very grateful to him for giving us a wonderful day trip experience. Xiao Chen's explanations were very professional and clear, and he also recommended delicious food. This tour involved a lot of driving and did not include meals, but Xiao Chen arranged rest stops along the way for everyone to take a break and grab some snacks. The first leg of the journey was from Hakata to Takachiho (2.5 hours); the second leg was from Takachiho to Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine (50 minutes). The Aso Red Beef Rice Burger at the shrine's parking lot was about 200 NTD and was absolutely delicious. The third leg was from the shrine to Kusasenri (1 hour). Unfortunately, due to an incident in January, we couldn't go to the crater, so we went to Kusasenri instead, where we stayed for about 30 minutes, which felt a bit rushed. This tour involves a lot of walking, so be sure to consider your physical stamina!

I joined a Klook day tour visiting Mount Aso, Takachiho Gorge, and Kumanoza Shrine, and it was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Mr. Chen, was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He explained the history and background of each place clearly and made the trip enjoyable for everyone. Mount Aso was impressive with its beautiful scenery and volcanic landscape. Takachiho Gorge was definitely the highlight of the trip – the view of the gorge and waterfall was stunning and very peaceful. Kumanoza Shrine was also a nice cultural stop with a calm and spiritual atmosphere. The tour was well organized and the transportation was comfortable. Overall, it was a great way to visit these famous spots in one day without worrying about transportation. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyushu.

I was the only Japanese person on this tour, but the female guide, Chen-san, was very attentive and spoke to me, so I was able to enjoy the tour without any worries. She also provided Japanese guidance for me alone on the bus. Thank you so much! There's not much time to eat slowly at the destination, so it's a good idea to bring your own food and drinks that you can take on the bus. There are many hills to walk, so I wouldn't recommend it for those who aren't physically fit! I think it was a tour with good value for the price.

I specifically want to praise our tour guide; they were super nice, fluent in English, Japanese, and Chinese—truly versatile! They were very kind and took great care of every tourist. The driver was also excellent and looked after me well, keeping me company during the otherwise boring car rides. The scenery was beautiful, and every spot was lush, picturesque, and well worth visiting. The value for money is quite good. The only thing to note is that if you're not in a hurry, you might prefer to visit each location individually, like boating in Takachiho, as this tour can feel a bit rushed. If that bothers you, please consider carefully. However, if you want to see a lot, it's definitely worth it!

Our tour guide, Wang Qi, arranged a tightly packed itinerary, confirming multiple times that the crater was open. He immediately adjusted the order of the itinerary, satisfying the travelers by completing three important destinations in one day. The crater, Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine, and Takachiho Gorge are all unique attractions in Kyushu! I highly recommend this itinerary! Our group of 15-16 people traveled by minibus, which was convenient for a small group. Luckily, our group was all young people, making the experience relaxed and energetic. We returned to Hakata Station on time. This itinerary requires a lot of physical stamina, so those with knee pain or the elderly may want to reconsider.

We were just a small group, thus easy to manage. The guide is energetic, approcheable and polite. The trip was long but not uncomfortable. The sceneries were amazing.. I wouldn't miss for the world!

This was a perfect trip! We're so thankful to Mount Aso for providing us with such beautiful weather. Our guide, Wang, was very experienced and changed the volcano viewing to the morning, allowing us to see the most, most, most beautiful Mount Aso crater. There was no strong sun or wind either. We went to Takachiho in the afternoon, and the heavy rain that had been threatening all day finally arrived. Luckily, we had already seen all the attractions, so we just relaxed in a gazebo and waited for the rain to stop. It was nice to slow down the pace of our busy itinerary and relax a bit. The Chinese communication was perfect for our first trip to Kyushu.

I loved how perfectly organized the tour locations were! I enjoyed the scenery even during the car rides, and it was great to easily travel to beautiful places that would have been difficult to visit alone. Above all, the guide was very passionate and friendly, making it a really fun experience. They also gave me a lot of tips about traveling in Fukuoka, which helped me have a great trip!
