Things to do in Nara Park

Huahua was a fantastic guide and made our day trip to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Nara Park and Fushimi Inari so enjoyable. He looked after all of us throughout the day, making sure we knew where to go, what to see, and the history and significance of each place. He kept us all together and on time while making everything feel relaxed and easy. It was a beautiful day, made even better by having such a wonderful guide. We would highly recommend Huahua!

Today I joined this tour with our guide, Sarah. Sarah is fluent in Chinese, Japanese, and English at a native level, and her pronunciation in all three languages is impressively clear and standard. Even though it rained the entire day, her thoughtful, attentive, and meticulous service arrangement made it much less stressful. This was our first time visiting Nara Park. As a word of caution, people with limited mobility or slower reflexes 🤣 probably shouldn't buy deer crackers to feed the deer. The moment we bought the crackers, stags smelled them and came running over. I was actually headbutted in the back by a stag, and fortunately, an elderly gentleman helped chase it away. Because of this, we didn't dare feed the deer directly; we quickly dropped the crackers and left. That evening, I noticed a large red welt across my back. 🙏 The tour group was very diverse, with travelers from all over, and we had a wonderful time.

Mr Shine is an excellent tour guide speaking well in English, Mandarin & Japanese. I learn a lot from him, he is very hard working on his heard of tourist. Kyoto & Nara sequence is adjusted to suit the weather. Unfortunately it rained lightly the whole day & the sun did not "shine". I stll enjoyed being guided with fond memories provided by Mr Shine. Be careful not to feed the deers as I got pushed on my back by 2 male deers who smell busicuits carried by me, dirtied my clothes! I recommend to follow Shine's offer of 6 choices lunch which you pay to restaurant yourself, A Mr Shine's value added service.

Zoey was a fantastic guide. so friendly, informative & kind & was great helping us understand the culture and language. This tour was really great. Having only a short time, we were able to fit a lot into one day. The Nara deer were a highlight for my sons. Beautiful scenery & a lot of fun.

Went to feed the deer early in the morning; the deer were so hungry and super excited 🤣 Afterwards, we went to Fushimi Inari Taisha and the Thousand Torii Gates. It was quite spectacular, but with the rain and huge crowds, it wasn't very convenient to complete the whole route—doing a quick walk and having a light snack is better. We saved Arashiyama for last, spending 3 hours there and riding the 🚂 scenic train. The views were gorgeous, and we even caught a glimpse of some fall foliage. If you're taking the scenic train, you can go straight to the bamboo grove where it's less crowded and walk back down from the front. Again, it's best to walk quickly and grab simple bites; there's Tenryu-ji Temple and plenty of shops to buy food and snacks. Also, our tour guide Sarah was fantastic—she arranged for everyone taking the Arashiyama scenic train to switch sides on the return trip so we could see and photograph the scenery from both sides, and she enthusiastically shared related stories. A truly satisfying itinerary! 👍🏻❣️

I had so much fun, and the whole process was smooth from start to finish! Since it’s a self-guided tour, there was plenty of room for exploring on our own while still having the flexibility to enjoy the trip at our own pace. Our guide, HaoWen, was also very thoughtful and gave us souvenirs at the end of the trip. Would definitely recommend this tour!
