Malaysia's National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said that the Malaysian government is currently in talks with other countries on allowing international travel for those who are fully vaccinated in the near future.

Those who are fully vaccinated will obtain a yellow profile on the MySejahtera app and will potentially be allowed certain freedoms and privileges - this may include international travel that has been banned for over a year. Besides international travel to selected approved countries, Khairy also mentioned that the government and a professional working committee are currently studying the feasibility of lifting the interstate travel ban and other restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals.

As of current discussions, Singapore may become the first country that fully vaccinated Malaysians will soon be able to travel to by using the MySejahtera app as a digital vaccine passport. This is likely amazing news for many families that have been separated for over a year since the pandemic forced border closures last year. Country leaders and the public have been urging for the establishment of a travel bubble between the two countries for months.
"Our talks with Singapore are almost finalized for the recognition of the vaccination passports," Khairy said. He also stressed that Malaysia is currently on the right track towards reaching the nation's target to vaccinate 80% of the population but Malaysians are still urged to adhere to the SOPs diligently so we can flatten the curve and win the battle together. Where are you looking forward to travelling to once the international travel ban is lifted?
