Reviews summaryWe had a fantastic experience at Mari Mari Cultural Village! The entire visit was incredibly well organized, interactive, and enjoyable from beginning to end. We loved the way each tribe and its unique culture were presented in such an engaging and authentic way. One of the best parts was tasting the traditional food from each tribe while learning about their customs and history—it made the experience even more memorable. Our guide was exceptional. His English was excellent, and he explained everything with enthusiasm, knowledge, and a great sense of humor. We were equally impressed by the performers, who brought the traditions to life with passion, warmth, and genuine smiles. Their hospitality and dedication made us feel truly welcome. You can clearly see how much effort the whole team puts into creating an unforgettable experience. It is absolutely worth every ringgit, and we highly recommend Mari Mari Cultural Village to anyone visiting Sabah.
It was a memorable and inquiring experience. The village showcased the prominent tribes that resided in Borneo. I really loved how they reserved the traditions through tourism. And they actually are proud of their tradition. We booked a guided tour which was basically entrance fee with a guide provided by the village, no lunch or transportation included. If you booked something like us, make sure to arrange transportation for the way back since it might be hard to get a ride back into town. If you came during rainy season, make sure to bring something to cover yourself from the rain since it might be quite wet.
It was a really fun and pleasant experience for my friend and me at Mari Mari Cultural Village! The staff were so helpful when we were trying on the traditional costumes and getting our hair done. The photography session was super cute too! We were pleasantly surprised that we got to wear the traditional costumes for the rest of the tour. The explanation of the rich heritage was very interesting. We also got to try some traditional food and rice wine during the tour. The dance performance was outstanding, and the talented team playing the instruments made it even more enjoyable. Big shoutout to one of the intern staff, Ika, for helping us throughout the tour. We absolutely love the photos you took for us! 🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖
Love this tour! Booking was easy, redemption was smooth as they have a dedicated counter for Klook booking. All we need to do is just show up earlier for the guides to make tour arrangement. Tour itself was very well-organised with experienced guides leading smaller groups to ensure guests' ease of movement and comfort. You'll be busy exploring, eating and engaging with the guides dressed as local tribes. Highly recommended for those first time travelling in Sabah learning about the interesting culture of indigenous tribes. Mari mari~
Arrangement of logistics was seamless. Tour operator got in touch a day before trip and communicated itinerary and meeting time. Driver was punctual and we reached the village in good time, despite it being a national holiday. Village was rather authentic and showcased quite a few activities of yesteryears. Many opportunities for food and drinks tasting in between too. Lunch was also simple and hearty. Guides were friendly and fluent in English. All in all, a wonderful way to spend half a day in Sabah.
Joined this tour on 1st May. Our guide, Tom, was super informed, answered our questions with grace and the overall tour was a great learning experience. The afternoon show was also extremely entertaining. Thank you!
We joined the trip as a family of 4 (with 2 young children). The team contacted us the day before to confirm details of pick up, etc. Driver, Asmin was on time and the session was so informative and interesting. My 8 yo and 5 yo thoroughly enjoyed the tour, great big thanks to our guide, Kerry. Kids were excited to try the local food provided (according to them, the fried roti jala, kuih bakar and refreshing calamansi juice) when visiting the different tribe houses, and the activities - blowpipe, bamboo dancing, watching the traditional fire making session using bamboo, and the Langkaran (traditional trampoline) in the Murut longhouse. Buffet lunch provided was great, lots of local delicacies to try. Great trip not to be missed if you would to learn more about the tribes in Sabah.
The whole experience was really interesting and enlightening. our guide had a great sense of humour and kept us entertained with the information about each of the 5 tribes. I would thoroughly recommend this tour for a cultural experience like no other.
Pick-up was smooth & driver was really friendly. Our guide Evonne was wonderful and explained the culture confidently. We went on a Sunday and it was really crowded - would recommend going on a weekday instead. The experience itself is great for adults and kids (my kids are 7&12), there were immersive experiences which involves participation. The lunch was buffet style with local foods served. definitely worth going if you’re visiting KK!
really fun and good experience. the guides were funny and professional. lots of food to try and the buffet at the end was also quite good.
